so, maybe i'm behind the times some because my speakers have the traditional green/yellow/black etc small jack...this card has one for mic in and one for headphones; the others are RCA-type and such. anyway got good sound by connecting the green to the headphones and changing the card's setting from headphone to 2.1. i plan to upgrade speakers anyway as i can tell they are holding the card back but still a noticeable gain! definitely worth the 120$ on sale!
