D-LINK DIR-868L Wireless AC1750 Dual Band Gigabit Router X4 Ports HIGH-POWER Wireless Amplifier
Cons:- Regular price is a real joke at NCIX. The regular price where I work "CC" is 165$ and I've paid 115$ during BlackFriday when I price-matched from my work but bought it here since I hate my job.
Pros:- Extremely user-friendly web interface.- AC Smartbeam! Possibly the only reason to get this router over any other. What this technology do is so great that I would never buy any router without such feature in the future.- Possible to control at distance via your cellphone though I haven't tryed.- Looks elegant, doesn't take much space since it's made vertically rather than horizontally.- No very bright led that lights up the whole room at night.- Price during the Black Friday, wow only 115$ for the very best AC router on the market!- Gigabit Lan ports, 1 USB 3.0 port though if you read reviews it's somewhat of a gimmick. At such price it should have come with 2 USB ports imo.- It reboots very quickly compare to my previous Linksys router that was fairly long.. and the much older D-Link I had before that was a matter of a few minutes instead of a few seconds! Comment:
My previous router, something very cheap around 35-40$ from Linksys "WRT120N" was doing the job just fine for my personal home use but I've decided to upgrade to the very best AC router for the hell of it, be even more futur-proof even if I'm not even using the wireless connection. Told myself it could only be better too with my VoIP as I was having issues before though it was prolly more a matter of bad settings in the ATA.The main reason though is that I knew this router had the best distance of all, even in 802.11N and I want to try soon to see if my neighbor in front of my house will be able to connect on my router so we can share the same Internet, therefore being able to get a much faster Internet, split the bill and pay the same price has before, quite like splitting an Extra-Large pizza instead of buying 2 separate Small pizza. From the reviews I've read it has range over 300ft so in theory it shouldn't be an issue as long as the computer have a good network card, not a cheap usb dongle with weak signal. Time will tell if it's possible but anyhow, very solid router that's pretty much overkill to anybody. |
I'm very happy with this router. I previously had the DIR-645, which was D-Link's first router with Smart Beam. This one outperforms it in every category (as it should.... it's a newer version of it).Regular price is a good value. On sale, it's a great value.
