D-Link DIR-628 Wireless N Router - 300Mbps, 802.11n/a/b/g, Dual-Band, 4-Port
Cons:SetupCD
Pros:USB PortWireless NSleek Black5ghz option for later Comment:
Bought this router to upgrade my old DLink wireless G unit (looks the same as new 50$ N one)Decided to go with this one because of the added USB port. I do lots of networking between 2 computers at home so it was helpful to plug in either my printer or my 750Gig External.Usually when I setup routers, I just plug them in and go into the router itself via web browser. This time I was lazy and decided to just put the disk in. For whatever reason it took -forever-. (5-10min) To set it up. I blame my friend computer I was setting up on. (old P4)Other then that it works like a charm and I get minimum 32Mb/s and highest so far 60Mb/s and a good signal. Wish the signal was better but this is a shared house with 8+ cordless phones. I used to get better wireless from the neighbor despite my old router being in the basement below me, but not anymore thank god.Old setup netted me low/average signal 24Mb/s MAX ever.New setup Good/Excellent signal, 60Mb/s max so far... router placement seems key. Need to get cordless phones away from it or suck it up and get a 5GHz adapter. This review was modfied by poster @ 08-31-09 10:47 AM |

I have used this router for abt 4 months now. Setup of the home networking was a breeze. Had my network secured and never had a drop in speed whether i am in my basement or outside in my garage or backyard. And additional feature would be USB shareport which came with it an upgrade to the latest firmware is required. Basically u could connect any USB device such as printer or hard drive into the router and then access those device as long as you are connected to the network wirelessly. Plus they (TD@ 7 and woodbine) matched a lower price advertised by a competitor. so overall this was great. Love shopping at TD keep it up. |

This router was great until I updated the firmware. Then the wireless died, and I spent eight hours on the phone with D-link, and got hung up on three (count 'em) times in the tech support process. Great router, worst tech support I ever had in my life, bar none. Don't know what else I can say. |
slow to connect to computers and had to call tech twice to get it working. They were great the second time , the first was lacking knowedge I think .
