Only works with windows os
Comment:
I purchased this wireless print server to work with both windows and mac 10.x. I could get the windows os to function, but could not get the mac computer to function, not even once. I am returning this product for a refund.

Terrible product, Terrible Customer Service
Comment:
I received this product this last week. I worked on setting up the machine for well over 3 hours. I contacted Dlink cusomer support. Their techs do not speak word of english. What a frustrating experience! First cust rep I had to hand up on as she was unintelligible. The second rep was not very much better. I could understand him most times, but he would rush ahead and would not ask if I had finished the previous step to set up. Oh my! What frustration! This was so hard to set up with so very poor support. It got to the point that the tech would not assist as my regular wirless router is a linksys and not a D-Link so he would not help me anymore with my problems. I am not a tech beginner here! I am putting in for a return authorization on this one. I will never purchase a D-Link again!

Terrible Setup Instructions
Comment:
The product works great ONCE you figure out how to set it up. But the included instructions leave out 1 crucial part. After a trial and error session for 2 days I did a search on the internet to find some inkling of help. It was difficult. What the instructions do not tell you is that the print server will work fine while hardwired to the router. But to set it up for wireless use you first have to change your wireless network name to match the of the new print server before you can set it up wirelessly. You also have to remove any wireless encryption. Once you set it up wirelessly then you can go back and change the network name back to something you choose. But remember to change for the server also. I would also recommend checking the company website before buying to see if your printer is compatible.

Frustrated
Comment:
After extensive time on the phone with product support we were totally unable to install the DPR-1260. Even though my HP AIO Printer was not listed as being compatable I was assured that we could work around the issue. Totally frustrated I gave up the attempt to continue with the installation.

It's ok if you purchase this for correct printer
Comment:
Purchased item. Did not show what printers are compatible. I sent it back because it was not compatible with the Canon MF3240 Multifunction Printer. I believe these print servers should have a list of compatible printers before purchase. It would save a lot of time and shipping expense.

Comment:
Setup was very easy (maybe ten minutes), worked perfectly with my older HP deskjet 940c, even though it was not on the list of compatible printers. Extremely satisfied with this purchase.

Great product!
Comment:
Easy install and setup - just make sure to read the list of supported printers before you buy it. If your printer is not on the list, don't expect it to work! I've been using this for over a month and haven't had any problems.

Easy Setup and Works Great!
Comment:
I have been looking for a wireless print server for a while. I have HP & Epson multi-function printers. The Easy Setup guide walked me through the configuration with no trouble. Did not need the CD. The thing to remember is to make sure printer drivers are on you pc before trying to setting them up with the print server. The web interface does tell you this if you forget. Good value for up to 4 printer support.

This Print server worked well for me. Didn't need to load CD. I hooked up 3 usb printers no problem to my network. It auto configured everything. I tried both wireless setup and wired both worked, wired seem to be faster.

Comment:
I bought this print server to replace my Netgear 606 in order to use the scanner on my HP 6210. Everything works great. Your printer driver should be loaded on your PC before you begin. Step 1 (add to network) Plug printer to USB port on 1260, plug PC direct to 1260, telnet to the 1260, statically assigned an IP for the 1260 and set up wireless to my network. Step 2 (setup printer) telnet to 1260, added printer to my PC. I did the same to 4 more PC's and we can all print and/or scan to/from my HP 6210. Works like a charm.

D-Link DPR-1260 Rangebooster G Multifunction Print Server
Comment:
Works OK as a print server, but is only a wireless bridge on the LAN, not to the internet, which I was looking for (Does not configure DNS). Also, with the unit sitting right next to my laptop, it only connects at 11 mbps on the wireless. Must use ethernet cable to get 108Mbps. If all you want is a wired network print server, this is a good one. Forget the wireless unless desparate.

Comment:
No probs at all. A little bit of effort to configure and having to install the printer on each machine might be a bit of a hassle if you have many machines. It's also a wireless bridge and that's pretty handy. The instructions talk about using a name like dlink-fbc164 (whatever the MAC address has). I wasn't successful with this on all my machines but it works fine with IP or it's default (I assume WINS) name dpr1260.

Comment:
No problems at all. Using WEP security with Windows XP and MacOS 10.4 on a HP LaserJet 2550. No automatic support for MacOS, but just specify a new IP printer, make sure you've got the Queue name specified in the settings, choose the right printer, and you're off! My network uses DHCP, but I assigned the DPR-1260 a static IP outside the DHCP range. Does not transmit printer toner information back to the computers.

I have been using this for the last 6 months. I love it. It has my Laser printer my Color ink jet and my Photo printer hooked up to it. I never need to hook up a cord to print. Setting it up on my Powerbook G4 was a task but there was plenty of help online. Setting up my wifes PC Notebook was very very easy. We love this and would recommend it to anyone that wants to go wireless.

D-Link DPR-1260 Rangebooster G Multifunction Print Server
Cons:So hard to figure out for unsupported printer.

Pros:Excellent speed, Easy to configure with supported printers.
Comment:
I got mine yesterday from NCIX.com.To configure the Canon i9900 via USB, it was a piece of cake. No troubles at all whatsoever. To configure the Konica Minolta QMS Magicolor 2500W, I had tons of problems to the point that I was thinking of another print server... Problems: :(1) If you do not have the QMS 2500W printer driver installed beforehand in your target system, the DPR-1260 will not be able to properly install the printer for you using the Printer Setup Wizard.2) Once installed, the printer cannot communicate with the PC and the Print Server. Doh! It kept on saying 'problem with print job'.Solutions: 1) Use the QMS 2500W CD to install the printer via USB first. Once installed, unplug the USB from the PC then Plug it in to the DPR-1260. Do a hard boot of the DPR-1260, remove the power plug, wait a few seconds and plug it back in. You should see the QMS 2500w as mc2500w in the DPR-1260 Status Screen. Use the DPR-1260 Printer Setup Wizard to install printer. When prompted, do not print test page.2) Now, go to Printers & Faxes in Start Menu > Settings. Right click on the Konica Minolta 2500w on DLink... and click Properties. Click on the PORT Tab, uncheck 'Enable Bi-Directional Support'. Click Apply and Print out a Test Page.3) VoilĂ ! It works now!4) Windows will sometimes think the printer is Offline. It's a Windows Problem with Network Print Servers and usually occurs because you turned the 2500W Off and On. To fix this, just turn on the Printer, wait for it to warm-up, unplug the DPR-1260 and plug it back in. The DPR-1260 Status might say it is Offline, but it is actually online and is working.*Note... with Both Canon i9900 and Konica Minolta QMS 2500W, the Print Monitor Utility won't be able to communicate with the Printer.

D-Link DPR-1260 Rangebooster G Multifunction Print Server
Comment:
Excellent purchase choice! Price, Quality, and a brand name you can trust... Wish it was capable of also being used as Network Storage device as it has 4 port on the back and really isn't designed so much for the home user that doesn't need to setup multiple printers. This will however work great for a print center in a small \ medium size business!

Absolute trash. Fought with it for 3 days and never got the wireless to work. Not only that, the printers it works with are very limited and when I finally got one of them to work it only did so intermittantly.
