D-Link DWA-556 PCI Express Xtreme Desktop Adapter
Cons:None thus far.
Pros:Very easy installation and does what is needed. Comment:
This adapter was an upgrade from an old wireless G card. The difference is MASSIVE. Signals that I was getting normally at 0-20% strength are now coming in at 100%. I've yet to see my connections drop at any time as is the stereotype of wireless. The N generation seems to a great improvement. :) |

D-Link DWA-556 PCI Express Xtreme Desktop Adapter
Cons:-None
Pros:-Strong, consistent signal-Faster start-up connection than my old adapter Comment:
I have been interested in purchasing this adapter ever since it came out because of excellent reviews; however, the price was too high. A price drop over last year has made this a very sensible purchase. I am very pleased with the performance and the strength of the signal. I also noticed that it seems to connect to the internet faster when my computer logs on to Windows. I am currently using this adapter with the Netgear WNR3500L router and have had no compatibility issues. |

D-Link DWA-556 PCI Express Xtreme Desktop Adapter
Cons:-BSOD-ugly green base
Pros:-Good Range-Triple Antenna Comment:
Some problem with the newest driver online (v1.4).if you happened to update the driver rather than use the one in the driver CD (v1.3), you might be really screwed. After update d my driver i cant even boot into my windows. It become BSOD before you can log in (right after the boot screen).I have to remove the card before i can boot into windows to search online for solution. Then I have to reinstall the driver under safemode. It does not just happened to me; I'd read other similar problem online before i got the solution.System : Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. |

D-Link DWA-556 PCI Express Xtreme Desktop Adapter
Cons:It's draft N
Pros:Easy to install and set up Comment:
I'm a bit upset that the title of the product doesn't mention that this is a Draft N card. I recently bought an 802.11N router and when I went to my PC to connect I couldn't find the router! D-Link's draft N does not work with my Linksys E3000 router in N mode so I'm still stuck in Wi-Fi G land. Otherwise it works fine when connected to 802.11G networks. |

D-Link DWA-556 PCI Express Xtreme Desktop Adapter
Cons:-Costly compared to many other internal cards
Pros:-Worked out of box and automatically installed onto my P8Z68 Asus mobo and Windows 7 Comment:
-The best thing about internal cards is if they work out of box without extra installation. It gives you that warm fuzzy feeling inside and also saves you a tonne of time transferring drivers from another computer. |

D-Link DWA-556 PCI Express Xtreme Desktop Adapter
Cons:
none
Pros: good qualityinternal Comment:
This is a very nice card for the price. I spent about an hour looking for an internal wireless card because I hate dongles hanging out and I settled on this one. It runs great, even through 2 walls to my d-link router. I plan on using it in all future builds. |

Price! But hey, it's performance is awesome.
Pros: Beastly performance. Comment:
Exceptional network performance with this card. Been on wireless G for many years and now devices are slowly supporting N. Performance is beastly -- Highly recommended. |

D-Link DWA-556 PCI Express Xtreme Desktop Adapter
Cons:oh? they are some weaknesses?
Pros:easy to install, stable signal, low heat, low profile! Comment:
bought it for my brand new Dell Studio XPS cause the company was selling a similar card for over 140$. Works very well, keep a very stable signal for high definition movie streaming and gaming. The only weakness I have with this card is my D-Link DIR-628 54g router. This card worth the 110$ I paid for it. Highly recommended network card. 5* |

D-Link DWA-556 PCI Express Xtreme Desktop Adapter
Cons:-Price
Pros:-Range Is Huge-PCI-E, I only have 1 PCI Slot-Speed-Reliable, not dropping any connections Comment:
This is a nice card. Only flaw is the price tag.I see so many more connections than I do on my laptop or netbook. It is great for anyone wanting wireless on their desktop. Though range is not important really... since my router is beside but still nice to know I could. This review was modfied by poster @ 12-15-09 10:04 PM |

D-Link DWA-556 PCI Express Xtreme Desktop Adapter
Cons:pricenot dual band
Pros:FastSmaller the PCI card Comment:
I have dwa552 and dwa556. It seems that dwa556 is faster. Also, it is located higher than the pci slot so I think it will have better reception too. |
Read a lot of reviews about not using the software, or the software causing problems. I forget why I installed mine but I have no problems whatever. If anything the most annoying part is having two wifi icons in the bottom right.Used about 40ft from router through livingroom with just couches and chairs between.Would highly recommend
