Oops I messed up... I thought I could use this device to extend the range of my Linksys Router, but there is a limited number of family devices that can be wirelessly extended. Also WDS is limited to the family of products. Makes sense, but was not clear when I was researching the product. I like the AP features, setup and software. |

Needed a replacement for a dead Netgear AP. This unit was easy to setup. Didn't use the software for setup, just the web interface. Works great with Wii, Zune80, PS3, Gateway Notebook. Using WPA2-PSK with AES. Used the same setup as I had with the netgear and everything just worked. Not using the super G because none of my Wi-Fi networked items have anything but basic G. |

I've purchased at least 20 of these units over the years, So I guess this makes me a bit of an authority on them. I've found them to be very easy to setup and they perform great. The only negative I've found is they need to be located in locations that are not exposed to temp extremes. When placed in an unheated/ cooled room I’ve had a few fail, otherwise I would say this is a good product. |

Bought this as my first foray into the realm of wireless networking and found it to be a very good unit. Easy to set-up and performed flawlessly first time. I have had nothing but success with D-Link products (routers, kvm switch) so this really no surprise. Model with POE would have provided more flexibility in locating the unit, but that's for next time. |

I've been buying these for use in the shop and office areas of my company. I got tired of Linksys hardware- poor coverage and having to reset/reconfigure a lot. So, I threw them all out and replaced them with these and the DI-808HV routers. I never have had to touch them again and the coverage is much better. Definitely worth the extra cost. |

I've had it about 2 months now and I'm really impressed. Range is real good. Admin program is nice (Doesn't use web browser). set up all security features with no issues. Using it at work, but I'm gonna buy one for home right now. |

When your ready to give up your so-called range extenders, booster antennas, and other gimmicks- go for this one - it works like a cab (7x24) and allows you to light up a remote area via an ethernet cable back to your router/switch. This is the second one I've bought, and will buy another if needed (I use them at home & work) |

D-Link DWL-2100AP High Speed Wireless 108Mbps Access Point
Cons:Reboots, No WPA for ptp or ptmp bridging, or extending. Insufficient documentation.
Pros:Many modes, standard antenna connector Comment:
This is a sort of "all-in-one" access point. It has 5 modes including AP, ptp & ptmp bridging, client adapter, and extender. The wifi tech is Super-G. At the time of this review, new technologies are emerging namely 802.11n and pre-n stuff which provides superior performance. Most if not all of these new solutions have multiple proprietary antennas. This unit therefor still has some use it has a standard RP-SMA connector allowing the use of many high gain antennas. As a brigde this works well performance wise, however be warned that WPA does not work in bridge or extender modes. MAC address filter and WEP are your security measures. Like alot of D-Link products this suffers from occasional random rebooting...they should really figure that one out - its annoying. Other than that the bridge works well and is able to stream mpeg2 video with no problem. |
I attempted to set it up with the included disk and failed. Then I followed the procedure in the "Quick Start" and it worked perfectly. I guess you have to read the instructions. It has worked flawlessly ever since.
