E-Films MxR ExpressCard SxS Replacement Adapter
Cons:Long delay when changing channelsRemote lag is horrible
Pros:Clear ATSC signalWorks with Windows 7 Ultimate x64 Comment:
Great if you're sticking to one channel with an over-the-air signal. You won't be able to watch HDTV or Digital Cable, but it's good for basic cable. I've had to RMA it due to remote lag, but it's been fixed. |

E-Films MxR ExpressCard SxS Replacement Adapter
Cons:
The IR cable could be longer! It is "just" long enough to go from the back of the computer to the front of mine and that's it.Only one tuner, so you can't record one channel while watching another. So says the FAQ section on the website, though I haven't tested this yet. ;-P
Pros: Price - on saleHardware easy to install. The support website has everything you could ever need if you want a quick solution, or updates! Recommend the updated version from the website of WinTV install instead of the CD that is in the box, since the one of the website is newer!Works with XP, Vista, and Win7 Comment:
When I first read the early reviews it freaked me out a little, since people were saying the remote wouldn't work or that it's tricky to get working with XP. Oh and that it was really hard to install on XP without Media Center Edition. I am just using WinTV that is the Hauppauge software.I'm using Windows XP 32bit. The software was easy to install. YES The remote DOES WORK, regardless of what some people say! ;-)The CD version 1.2A comes with the card, however their support website has a newer version 1.3E which I recommend using since the drivers etc would be the newest.http://www.hauppauge.com/site/support/support_hvr1250.htmlAlso IF you have trouble getting the remote to work follow the instructions from the support site. I copied and pasted the short version: see here... which I found on the FAQ section of the support site. "How do I enable my remote control so it will work with the WinTV-HVR-1250?Browse your WinTV CD ROM and open the IR32 folder. Double click on the IR32.EXE to install the remote software and restart the computer. This will enable the remote control to work with the WinTV application. Be sure that the IR cable is connected to the IR port on the back of the HVR 1250 board"I bought this card because I wanted to get rid of my large TV/entertainment unit and watch analog cable through my computer. I also wanted the remote since I use my computer from the couch sometimes... ;-)I recommend this card if you just want to have standard cable TV running through your computer. |

E-Films MxR ExpressCard SxS Replacement Adapter
Cons:
IR receiver is a bit short
Pros: Good qualityWorks with Windows 7Works with Windows Media CenterComes with remote Comment:
Pretty good tv tuner for its price. It won't work with digital or HD cable channel since the cable company encodes that so you'll have to use a set top box.Works with Windows 7 and its Media Center which is great. Media Center offers PVR and tv guide as well.I had a very old Hauppauge tv tuner and this one has way better picture quality than my old one. |

E-Films MxR ExpressCard SxS Replacement Adapter
Cons:Recording doesn't seem to work too well, bad quality.
Pros:Good for basic TV watching, even works good to hook up your game systems through the s-video. Comment:
I don't use this to record TV but rather to just watch TV and play my PS2 and Xbox to my computer. It's software based and PCI-E 1X makes for good speed and you don't get the delay like you do on most TV tuners. Quality really depends on how good your s-video cable is when playing games. |

E-Films MxR ExpressCard SxS Replacement Adapter
Cons:Crappy picture, remote that seems to work only sometimes and S L O W !! No HD without an antenna and that may not even work.
Pros:well...you can some watch TV on your computer..I guess that's a strength. Comment:
Do your research before you plop down some dough for one of these cards. I was guilty of throwing one in with all my new computer upgrades without doing the proper research and I am very disappointed with the card. Realistically this card only get analog broadcasts over cable and it claims to receive digital and HD over the air, with an antenna that is not supplied, but I am reluctant to try as I don't really want to put more money into it. I was hoping to use this as a secondary PVR but I don't think it is going to fly. I see now why NCIX only accepts exchange with the exact same card...they know it sux too and you'll want to return it. Alas I will try to sell it online at a lose... |
I got this to transfer footage over from VCR tapes. It worked fine for that. It comes with a little adapter that lets you plug in a yellow RCA/Composite cable.I may use it for TV in the future, but that was not its main purpose. I am happy to report that I got it at a VERY good price. It has now increased by over 50%.Would definitely consider this Tuner and other Hauppauge Tuners in the future.
