ENCORE ENM232-6VIA Surround Sound Card

Not a negative sound card for so small funds. I genuinely like the truth that you don't have to set up a lot of extra application to get this to operate effectively (unlike my Audigy SE). The sound quality is better than the onboard C-Media garbage that came with my technique but not as great as the Audigy SE which it was going to replace. Ended up placing it on my Ubuntu machine utilizing a 2.1 setup which now sounds phenominal (JVC Creature). Not accurate 5.1 sound. It sort of emulates it. I couldn't get true 5.1 sound in either Windows XP or Ubuntu 8.04. Great sound out of the two front and center, but the rears and sub had been in fact coming by means of the front channels (emulation of 5.1 sound). Yes, I had it connected appropriately. Not 96khz (only 48khz), seriously disappointed about this one. For most folks, this would be good sufficient, undoubtedly an improvement over onboard sound and a very effortless set up. A great get if you have 2.1 sound, but if you have 5.1 or superior devote the extra money and get a far better card. My method: ASRock M266A Socket 478 mobo, P4 2.26ghz, 1GB G-Talent, PNY GEForce 6200, Maxtor 200 GB HDD, JVC Creature 2.1 speakers operating Win XP and Ubuntu Hardy.

Low cost I bought 7 of these cards for a project that required a PCI-X slot card that was SB compatible. I tried all 7 and the machine would not even come to POST. Put a recognized excellent SB Reside card on and viola the machine runs with no problems....except the Live card needs some massaging to function in my application.By the time I got about to the project it was previous the return policy limit. I am contacting Encore to see if they can assist with a workable resolution but I figure I am in all probability stuck with ๖ worth of useless cards. My fault for not checking them when they came in. If you want something to function out of the box or don't have time to play tech support phone tag.....attempt a distinct item....New Egg has a lot of them to pick from.

Well it was cheat, and I do mean low cost. it was DOA. called customer assistance at their firm to troubleshoot and he didnt do substantially other than say send it back. i going to attempt it again, then I may possibly go ahead and spend a small more for a creative labs that i know will perform.

its inexpensive and it works. my creative card died and i didn't want to spend a lot on an old pc. none extremely slim style, doesn't take up much space.

NONE. This card is advertised to function with Vista, but when I rebooted after installing the drivers, it merely didn't function. It stated "No audio output device is installed." Other sound cards function, so it's gotta be the card, not my pc. Tech support fundamentally says...send it back to us. Pay a small added and get from a properly known business that you know will work.
