EVGA GeForce GT 240 01G-P3-1246-LR Video Card
Cons:
Except for the CD there isn't a lot of information (instructions with the package) on how to install, although it really is quite simple to doOn first start up I received a blue screen and reboot of Windows, but after downloading the most current driver from Nvidia, all has worked very smoothly since with no errors.
Pros: Windows Experience Index for 1). Desktop performance for Windows Aero2). 3D business and gaming graphics performance went from a 4.9 with my previous Geforce 7900 GS to a 6.7 after installing the Geforce GT 240.Taking tests of older and current games at the "Can you Run it?" website, I nearly always was at the recommended area or higher.Seems that my pc is running much smoother and quieter with the GT 240 compared to the 7900 GS.Purchased for a very good discounted price and with the mail in rebate, I couldn't resist the purchase.Seems to run cooler than my previous card. Comment:
I would recommend this card for people that have a need to play most games at normal settings and who watch a lot of movies. It may not be the best card that's currently out there, but Nvidia has stated that it's a midrange product, even though it is the bottom of the midrange ladder. It only requires a 300 Watt power supply and uses a single card slot, so most PCs would probably be able to handle it.Doesn't require a separate cable to the power supply like my old 7900 GS did. It's a few dollars more now online than when I purchased it, but it's still a great deal.Runs well in Windows 7 64 bit and seems to have speeded up my pc a bit.I received a demo for Starcraft II with this card and have played about 2 hours out of the 7 I'm allowed and I have to say the game is just amazing with this card.My pc performed very well and only was luke warm after 2 solid hours of StarCraft II and I had the resolution set to 1680 * 1050 (highest my current display goes otherwise I would have tried it at a higher resolution).I would say a great bang for your buck. |

A great value for your money, great graphics, entry to mid level gaming performance with most games out on the market. Rich detail on a 23 inch monitor for graphics and video editing and watching movies in high resolution. Great value for your money what are you waiting for. |

Excellent buy
Comment:
The performance is awesome. I am running it on a D930 Intel chip 3.0 GHZ, RAM 4 GB and Windows 7 Pro. I bought it because it can run on lower power sources. It has not let me down. The games are running and no dropping FPs now. |

Still Testing. 450W PSU May not be enough
Comment:
This card is a great buy at $80 with the rebate. Running a Phenom x4 2.3 GHz with a dual tv tuner and 4 sticks of ram, My system seems to be having a hard time running this card on a 450W PSU (B52-3013). I am upgrading to a 700W Power supply in hopes that my video quits locking up. When there is a low load on my system, the card is absolutly great. I'll write more when after I upgrade my power supply. |
For an entry level card, this card works wonderfully well. Windows 7 recognized the new hardware and downloaded all necessary drivers and software. For computers that do not have room for a dual slot video card, this card works as it only takes up 1 slot.
