Edifier S730 2.1 3-piece Speaker System
Cons:- Warranty is only 1 year at that price (get warranty or on your credit card)- Audio RCA to jack cord is short (had to buy another one)
Pros:- Powerful and rich Bass- Quality for the price (PMed)- Wired remote is simple but got it all- Got a wireless remote Comment:

Edifier S730 2.1 3-piece Speaker System
Cons:short cord from the head unit to sub, doesn't do dishes.
Pros:Amazing? Godlike? Incredible? Comment:
Well I paired this up with my HT OMEGA Claro 2 sound card, I have the speakers hooked up via optical cable, I had a spare cable from my home theatre setup which is a Ixos xhd508 toslink cable I think. The sound these pump out is pretty nuts, I would defiantly recommend a good sound card paired with this setup as you will get so much more out of them.If your looking for some extra quality you might want to swap out the speaker wire for some premium stuff, however the wire supplied isn't to shabby and it isn't cheap stuff.Got this on sale thank god these are fairly expensive for computer speakers, but it is a good investment. I can't really break them in since I have neighbours and the sub emits more then enough shake to get the cops called. Good investment. |

Edifier S730 2.1 3-piece Speaker System
Cons:-lack of subwoofer crossover adjustment (on the sub)-subwoofer falls off too quickly
Pros:-Clarity-Quality-large powerful sub -aesthetically pleasing-detailed imaging Comment:
I bought these because I wanted quality sound at my PC for now and for a long time to come. I looked at this purchase as an investment. Why I choose Edifier S730'sUp until I bought the S730's I had been using Altec Lansing MX-5021 2.1 speakers. They were THX certified and I have loved using them for many many years. The time was nigh to replace them and so I chose the The Edifier S730 because I wanted to improve the quality of sound over the venerable MX-5021's. Mostly though I wanted more bass, more extension and more overall output all while maintaining clarity. Some 2.1 PC speakers become boomy and that is something I did not want. I briefly considered Corsair SP2500's but IMHO they are more geared for gaming and I thought the S730 would give me the type of performance I was looking for (S730 has a 10" sub with more power handling compared to SP2500 8" unit).PackagingI was able to buy my S730 for $288 with free shipping. When I received the S730 I had to pick them up from my local Puro Delivery Agent. I must say, what a huge box! They may not fit in ones trunk/back seat! I had no issue though as I picked them up with my pickup. Once home I opened up the extremely well packaged speaker set. They used closed cell foam which is very nice to see and to boot they were double boxed from Edifier.Setup and Initial ImpressionsI set these speakers up at my PC. I use an ASUS Xonar DG sound card. It is not the most expensive sound card but it works very well. I listen to .wav or FLAC formats as much as possible. For what value can be had in excellent hardware if the quality of the music is sub par?I will comment about the aesthetic appeal of this speaker set. The two desktop speakers are beautiful in my opinion and are well proportioned for a computer desk. The piano black finish of the enclosures is top notch. The removable grills are also well designed. The frame of the "Grill" is also piano black with fine mesh fabric stretched over it. It is transparent enough that one can appreciate the driver and silk dome tweeter that it clothes. The sub is large. The rear of the sub has all the connections and a large heatsink. The fins of the heatsink are greater than 2" deep and occupy the entire side of the sub aside from the area dedicated to the I/O. I have not noticed the heatsink raising much over body temperature even after extended use. Two of the sides of the sub employ the use of 10" Passive Radiators. Lastly, at the front of the sub we find the driver covered by a steel grill that is surrounded by a plastic bezel. IMHO it is not visually appealing and unfortunately it seems the grill is not removable! I am going to keep this part of my review concise. The S730 offers Crisp, Clear, Powerful sound. I am not sure what else to say except the one caveat is to be found with the extension of the sub. IMHO |

Edifier S730 2.1 3-piece Speaker System
Cons:Price, lacking mid range.
Pros: Quality sound, build quality, sounds great, huge sub, digital inputs. Comment:
I know it is a little too much money for a 2.1 system, but I could not resist. I own some creative 7.1, 2.1, logitech 5.1 and these things rock. This system is very well packed, a box in a box. The sattelites are heavy and the sub is a monster. I tried using onboard audio which sounded ok but bought a auzen xplosion along with these. I have it hooked with a toslink cable and the sound is clear at any volume. The wired remote cable I wish was longer so limited to where the sub can go in the room. The wireless remote has all the functions that the wired has which is nice. The base is much softer than I thought it would be but you can still make the windows rattle. When purolator showed up I grabbed the box for the driver and was suprised how heavy it was, definatly not portable. All in all very impressed with product. |

Edifier S730 2.1 3-piece Speaker System
Cons:
Low mid-range output, though this can be fixed with proper EQ usage.Lack of headphone switch(ala, I enjoy keeping my headphones plugged in and pressing a button to switch them on, instead of having to plug them in and unplug them all the time).Extremely large, so be prepared to have a bit of space taken up compared to normal 2.1 set ups.
Pros: Natural sound.Great physical appearance.Very clear at low volumes, and cranks up high keeping that same clear sound. Comment:
Fantastic speakers, very minimalist appearance. Great sound and very pleasant range.I personally do not like the overly large control pod, but it does a good job of displaying all the info you need with minor tone adjustments. The weaknesses are not really weaknesses for me(other than the headphone gimmick), just trying to cover the product well. |
well made with great bass response and nice clear sound from satellite speakers.nice control pod. regular price too high so make sure to pricematch
