Not as advertised
Comment:
Functionality is fine. The on-screen menu could be a little nicer, but hey! However, the delivered product does not look like the product shown on the Seagate site. The product I received has a white hard drive hanging out the front and no cover. Over an hour on the phone with Seagate to be told they changed the product but not their website. Try the WD connected through a network if you want something that looks decent in your media center. |

Cons:A couple of weekness are listed on Seagate forum. Worth reading before purchasing. Would not recommend to use a Seagate disk with this unit.
Pros:Works quite well for playing movies, including ISO files. Plays avi files correctly but in some rare cases, the sound level is really low. Comment:
If playing movies from a local usb disk, is your main interest, this player does a very good job. The internet features is not that interesting and not required. This unit is much better than previous version.Compared to an HDMI signal comming from a Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop, this player generate an HDMI signal that is like a dvd player, thus your TV won't think it is a signal from a PC. Some TV disables some zoom options when signal is detect as a PC source. |

Not so good product
Comment:
This product cannot play .FLV contain. Most of the internet contain from 'You Tube' 'Flickr' and other site now have all their video in .FLV format and this player is not able to play those videos and there is no firmware update possible from Segate as well. |

EVERYTHING I've been waiting for!
Comment:
Absolutely awesome product! Organize all you ISOs, MP3s, pictures, etc. onto a USB hard drive and play them on this unit via a USB connection, or, even better, put the files on a NAS, buy one of these for each room in the house, and access the files via netwrok connection to one centralized location. PLAYS ISO MENUS! Finally, a product that does that! Haven't found a file format that it can't play yet. Maybe the best product I own, and now the most crucial part of the entertainment center. Buy one! AWESOME! |
I have connected it to my network, also attached a Seagate Dockstar(can connect 3 external hard drives) so far have 2 x 1 terabyte WD element external drives attached to Dockstar, and 2 Media player hooked up. Both media players can play off the network like movies on demand. All this takes a little reading and some time but results are great. J. Frost
