good solution
Comment:
For my network Synology storage box. Both USB and SATA work great. Solid case keeps everything nice and cool. Power switch, clear labels, good speed I'll be back for more of these.

The drive was recognized right away. Took a long time to format to NTFS, but, it is nearly a TB of space. Good, quiet drive thus far.

Only One Complaint
Comment:
The drive was easy to install. With all the available space I had to decide how many partitions to make. I have it set up on a triple boot PC, Windows XP 64B, Windows 7 Ulitmate Beta and Ubuuntu Linux. I have two other physical drives which have the OS's on them, this drive is strictly for storage and backup. My complaint is that it has lag with it's access time. I am sure it's part of the "Green" feature. I can live with it.

Great Product for backups
Comment:
Drive initially takes awhile to format to NTFS for Vista but after that you have 931GB of space for anything. Drive still running cool after being on for 3 straight days. Would recommend to anyone wanting a 1TB drive

Best deal in town for your PVR (Rogers SA 8300)
Comment:
My PVR, Rogers' Digital HD uses a lot of space to record in HD, this was the solution, use a eSATA to eSATA cable, and attach this 1tb External Hard Drive to my PVR to get about 120 hours of hd recording, the box itself has about 160GB of space, so this configuration is over a 1tb. Rogers sells the same thing for about $300, and with the eSATA to eSATA cable ($33), and the drive for $149, that is a savings of about $120, with a better drive. The drive itself is very quiet and doesn't produce much heat, it is small as well, and actually fits in with the pvr itself, it looks like it belongs with the PVR box. For the price, performance etc, this is a great product.

so far so good! seems great!
Comment:
so i did have trouble getting it all working with my 'puters, but it seems to have been my internet provider modem conflict- not that this device is difficult in an of itself...i had to call customer service which is actually china/ taiwan or the like...that guy helped me though and it works now! all in all i find this device to be the handiest thing ever- and i def love it. easy to use, especially if you are not super tech-y...all in all i give it a high mark for satisfaction!

good, we think
Comment:
Second Fantom purchased, had a 500 gb unit for over a year, no problems.Has an on/off switch and the power light has been toned down.(They won't see it on Mars any more) Quiet, cool. Don't care if there is a faster unit out there, read all the reviews for the OTHER externals before I got this one. Can't see any reason why I won't buy a third unit.

Comment:
ok, i was in need of a an external HD and after reading reviews I thought I'd give the Fantom a try. I've only had it for a few days now and I really like this one alot so far. It runs quiet, and cool. I had to back up about 650gb of data. It performed like a charm and can't be beat for the price. I would definitely recommend this drive.

impressed, but still pessimistic
Comment:
ihave been waiting for some time to have a reason to get an esata adapter for my expresscard drive, but when this came around, i couldn't resist, great price, higher speed! just don't forget, your speed is only determined by the slowest point between the drive and your c drive/motherboard/memory, i am a little angry that vista uses it for a cache even though i tell it not to, it is marginally faster on uploading, but on reading and downloading, it is great...look for your weakest point and keep in mind that despite the 3gps esata limit, this devise will never even reach 2 because of its own setbacks and will probably be less if you don't check your own

Great Product for a Great Price
Comment:
Bought this to back up my HP pavilion a1730n. Took awhile to initially setup because the full formatting process takes awhile. But no worries once thats done its ready to roll and you get the full 1tb to store stuff. I use it to back up pictures store all my music and video files and use it as backup for my laptop. Best deal around. Highly recommend.

Dream come true
Comment:
I live off-grid and am pleased that finally I can have a remote drive that I can leave on without chewing into my power supply. I wish Tiger Direct would make an effort to create an entire line of power miser products. I'm searching for low power LCD HDTV, and am not impressed with the "standby" power" specifications - they are always low. My interest is in power consumption when it is on.

As advertised
Comment:
So far, this product works exactly as advertised. I had to change the partition table to GUID before I could reformat it on my Intel Mac, but that is a common problem with these drives. Once that was done, I zero'd it for good measure and copied all of my backup data to it without any problems.

Fantom 1TB 3.5" GreenDrive External Hard Drive
Comment:
Inexpensive, fast (eSata) and efficient. Plug it in, fire it up, drag and drop. I got the Fantom for several months ago, set it up and wrote a Robocopy (a free Windows utility) script for it and haven't thought about it since. It hums along like a top. I also own a Seagate and a WD both of which cost me more. Live and learn.

Received the drive and was unable to write to it (would format but error out when writing data). Sent it to Fantom and they could not find anything wrong. Still, they swapped the drive and sent it back quickly. Works well.

Fantom 1TB 3.5" GreenDrive External Hard Drive
Comment:
Absolutely fabulous drive. I just picked up my second one. Both are Fantom 1TB drives--one is the GreenDrive and the other isn't. Other than the logo being a bit different and the color of the LED, they look and act identically. I have one running with Truecrypt whole disk encryption, and it runs flawlessly. From connection to temperature to performance, I am impressed with both of them. I also have MyBook and FreeAgent drives--and a few others. When I need another drive, I'll be back here looking for one of these.
