Lots of storage, quiet, rapid... Was awesome... Until it died a single day. Now it just clicks. I'd recommend to any individual to get the warranty... Possibly it was just mine, but it only took 3 months to die. I handled it with a ton of care, so I don't feel it was my fault. I'm going to try to return it. Will probably write a evaluation about that ultimately. Manufacturer Response:Thank you for your feedback. Every little thing appears to function--except what I wanted. eSATA problems galore. Attempted it on three systems with 3 unique cables and none of them detected the drive via eSATA. Item is straightforward to install, lot of space for the prices. Truly silent unit. Had no dilemma employing it with windows XP SP3 32-bits. I just hope this will final for long...The A/C unit with has a really modest cord, that is the only con's I can come across for this item contemplating the cost/quality. I place 640gig of Data on it as soon as I received it. Every little thing has been operating fine so far. Had to format the disk to NTFS. FAT32 is excellent but not secure enough for enormous information.

Totally free shipping Noisy, very annoying power management, terrible tech support, Risky if you decide on to use this to backup important files and do not know how to manually dis-assemble drive (if internal Hitachi drive nevertheless performs) to get information. I give it two begins only since it worked for 13 months. It failed these days but I removed the slow and noisy Hitachi challenging drive inside and place it in one more external drive caddy to get my 962gb of data, most persons would be cryin though! Now, I will backup ALL my information on two independent challenging drives. Soon to get a 800gb LTO tape backup.

Has esata & usb. Is quiet. two year warranty, may well be 1 year now. I have had this drive for just over a year & use it frequently. I deal with HD video a lot, so I required the space. I connect the drive the other day & my laptop or computer had a method error because of it. I produced positive it was the drive & not one more components. I named Fantom IT department & they told me to do the common issues. I looked in the device manager & it recognized the device, but didn't show in My Computer. I tried to initialize it, but I received an error. I submitted a RMA type on Fantom web site & it says I will have a response in 1-3 days. So, I'm waiting to see where I will have to send it in to have it repaired, hopefully. I hear the drive operating, so hopefully its another portion or it will have to be replaced. At least the warranty is two years. I assume Fantom will replace it if they can't repair it. Manufacturer Response:Judge from your description of the issue you are getting we definitely need to take a look at your drive. If you have questions about the RMA process please let us know at customercare@fantomdrives.com

And a different 1 that I have bought this week, GF1000EU16, due to the truth that i filled up the first one! If you want a good drive at a bargain value, you need to purchase 1 of these models.

Great drive; runs rapid and no problems. I use two of these to back up my Win2008 server to. No drive fans, but they look to run cool anyway. Rebate is, as expected, slow. Mailed the rebate on 7Ǟ, received the check on 9Ǟ. There is no excuse for this. Rebates must be mailed in a sensible amount of time, not held till the extremely final day of their Ś-eight week" allotment is up.

eSATA, low-cost, performs excellent so far None truly; No eSATA cable included Getting both eSATA and USB2. is wonderful and the eSATA transfer prices are really rapid. Just be aware that technically, in order to hotplug an eSATA drive you have to enable AHCI in BIOS *before* installing Windows (enabling AHCI immediately after Windows is set up will result in it to blue screen repeatedly when trying to boot).Other than that, nothing else really to say. Functions as advertised and low-cost!

Low-cost, huge, reasonably rapid. Looks nice. Compact. Does specifically what it's supposed to. Cheap. Did I mention cheap? Doesn't come with eSATA cables (but I didn't count on it to at this value). Abnormally slow to spin up out of sleep mode. You could signal aircraft with the activity LED on the front that is always on. Opening it voids the warranty. Newegg is brilliant as often.

Quiet, cool, durable.I've had this operating for about six hours straight. Started up beautifully. Crystal clear directions, WOW quiet (I didn't know it was running). six hours copying over files (wireless ported thru USB - yes, I know....but I'm copying my tunes and my eSata conn is at the other residence). Throughout this, it was so quiet I forgot about it, and flopped the over on on it's side not once - but TWICE in mid copy whilst picking up my laptop. I figured I'd bricked it, but not even a burp. Wow is all I can say. Can't wait to get it to my other location and watch it fly working with the eSata connection. I'd fore-go the rebate if you consist of an esata cable in the box. Wanna be Really green? Save me from driving down to choose a single up on the way. (My newegg screen didn't recommend one particular and I didn't read all the fine print. Yes, I'm the dope here. Order an eSata cable and save yourself the frustration later. This is my initially time on newEgg. I have a feeling this is going to be addictive. KMN.

All very good so far, I was a little worried about buying HDD immediately after reading other evaluations. It took overnight to do a full format utilizing USB, there need to be an instruction sheet that need to indicate that you can do a "Quick Format" in lieu of a "Full Format". Not seriously a HDD challenge, just my issue for not realizing. Excellent capabilities, On-Off switch, eSata and USB, OK power supply, nice color, very good heat-dissipating aluminum case.

Fantom Drives G-Force 1TB 3.5" External Hard Drive
Comment:
It was good even though it lasted. A tiny loud but that under no circumstances bothered me. Holds an unbelievable quantity of information. With about 75% of the difficult drive full of information, and about a year of use, it suddenly died. Even though it's a year old, I only powered it on when employing it - the blue light on the front is incredibly bright, and my computer is in the bedroom. But even with limited use, it didn't last. My computer system will no longer recognize the drive; from time to time it will give me a message saying new hardware has been detected, but says full the hardware could be corrupt or unusable. It's either that, or it doesn't recobnize it at all. I got it on sale for a good price tag, so all in all for a year's worth of use it was almost certainly worth the funds. Even so now it contains a good deal of personal and economic information, and so far I haven't been able to open the external case and (hopefully) be capable to retrieve the tough drive inside. So if you're purchasing this to back up essential information, I'd suggest you select some thing else.

runs quietly as soon as really running it is a Hitachi drive inside. it keeps powering on and off. i do not have any power alternatives set. when it powers down, it tends to make this loud clunky noise and stops. then when i attempt to do anything with the computer, it spins back up and takes a couple minutes even if i'm not looking for something on that drive/using it. seems like it's a green drive, but when i checked the item quantity, it came up as Hitachi 1tb 7200rpm with 32mb cache, I believe. That clanking noise bothers me and nowadays is the last day of my 30-day return. i didn't get to set this up until a few days ago due to personal causes and now don't know if i can exchange for new one particular cuz i sent rebate in just yesterday. Manufacturer Response:A small occasional clicking is standard, in particular when powering off and on. If the problem is really noticeable it could point to a difficulty with the drive. If you'd like we can bring it in for diagnostic testing. Please e mail assistance@micronet.com or call 1齠ꍈ-DISK񢠓) and choose option Š for Technical Assistance.

Excellent drive for the value. I like that it came with Esata slot, which is excellent. It was swift and uncomplicated to format. I am pleased with this drive so far, mostly making use of it to shop films for my HTPC. seeking directly at the blue light can cause blindness. Also no esata cable. If you require another lamp in the residence, this drive will illuminate your entire property in a blue glow.

I gave this drive a anxiety test for the initial two days with significant and tiny files, Filling it up formatting it then performing it all over. No difficulties at all. Its runs quit, smooth and rapidly with no a single error. Meets all my expectations. Does not involve an esata cable. Would be nice if it integrated an esata cable and the ability to to disable the bright blue LED. I use it for a HTPC so I just place a sticker over it and it aids, but the LED is really vibrant.

Plug & Play on each XP machine working with PCI esata card & WD media player (USB).HD Tune identifies my Fantom drive as a WD. Reads typical 85MB/s for the 1st 250MB and gradually degrade to a minimum of 42.4MB/s @ the end. General average 71.4MB/s. (XP esata data; USB is about two.5x slower.) So, good speed for the funds. Took a second speak to and six months to get the rebate. Unusual faint noise when reading/writing (thought I had a fan going poor the initial time I heard it.) Can't hear it when hooked up to the Television media player from 6' away - so, minor con. For reviewer beneath: Wall-wart is 12v 2a by Asian Power Devices. However, my LED light is not blue so maybe the power cords have also changed from 6 months ago.

Effortless to format and setup.Durable: dropped from four feet onto a concrete floor, bounced about about 5 instances with no dents to case let alone scratches. I think it did a lot more damage to the floor. None Only problem was with Windows7 not being in a position to format in FAT32 on its personal, so I had to download a 3rd celebration disk formatter.
