Fantom Drives G-Force 1TB 3.5" External Hard Drive

Got mine end of June. No problems as yet. The next external HD I by must have eSata, works like an internal for speed (almost) for transferring file. The bonus is with USB2 I can connect it to other computers that don't have eSata interface. I made a well padded hard case to move it around to protect it and sudden temperature changes as well. It works great for backing up all my computers, except I'm running out of space again. I hope it stands the test of??

I brought this product about four months ago as birthday gift for a friend of mine. Over the course of the four months, my friend added alot of music on the drive for his internet radio. Today I was visiting my friend. He informed me that the drive was not working. I tried everything I could think of and nothing worked. The light is still on, but the computer does not recorgnize the drive anymore. In another word the system failed. I am so disappointed of the FD. Please, stay away.

I bought my first one of these at least a year and a half ago. Haven't had any problems. I use one for backup and remove it, the other runs all the time. So far so good. The light is bright, but a little electrical tape over it takes care of that problem.

Had this drive for about 4 months when it suddenly failed on me (it shows up as a 34MB unformatted volume). Tried to resurrect my data using all possible recovery tools out there, but had to luck. For those who are wondering what's inside, the drive is a H1tachi HDT721010SLA360 (manufacturing date Jun-2009). Stay away!

I have a HDPVR from Rogers and this unit is working great as additional storage space. The normal PVR doesn't have enough space for a bunch of HD programming. With an additional TB of space I can program HD until my heart's content. Awesome value.

The Fantom external drive is working well as a backup storage unit for my home network. I am still working on the downloads and transfer, but my tech is helping with that. Keep up the Effort.

This drive is the best i have ever bought. Had it a month now. Bought a backup program for it and now i am realy confident my pics are protected. It did take about 14 hours to reformat itself to ntfs from fat32. Gives you an idea how big a 1T drive is.

Hooked this into my upconverting dvd player and it can be read by the machine, so that means l can watch my avi files and have them upconverted to 1080i.

Item came quickly and set up was simply a plug and play operation. The terabyte capacity is a good value for the price. Unfortunately,I havent had it long enough to evaluate its crash potential over time, but major brands have not stood the test of time well for me in that regard, so why pay more. I am using no software with this product and dont NEED any It works just as if It were original to the pc. This drive seems troublefree, no hassles and that's what I want.

Works as advertised. Had it 1 month and no problems. Use it every day. The USB input is handy. Quiet. Very fast. Stays cool. The on off switch is nice. Instruction book is good. They delivered on time in perfect condition. Lots of bang for the buck.

Bought the GF 1000EU to expand the recording capacity of our Scientific Atlanta 8300HD DVR after reading a positive review. Following the instructions in the DVR manual the eSATA installation went smoothly. The Fantom has been working well for three weeks.

Purchased based upon 4 star reviews on TigerDirect. Drive died after about 15 minutes of ues. Never able to recover. After researching other reviews, found out that Fantom has a history of having horrible drives. Many reviews out there detailing their failure and subsequent poor customer service. Don't buy it!

vary good product. my transfer rate of data is very good about 20mb to 25mb per seconed with the sata cable. this by far the best bang for your buck. It's fast reliability is great and lots of space for any type of data

This transfer did take a really loooooong time to complete, but it is holding my files. That's really all I wanted. So far I have no other complaints. I hope it lasts a long time.

The drive spins down when not accessed, which caused problems on my mythtv machine. Since you cannot access the bare drive via hdparm or sdparm, there's no way to disable this.
