I have purchased 2 units and only 1 unit worked right out of the box. 3 RMA's later I GAVE UP!!! The term you get what you pay for certainly applies here. |

I don't understand any of the previous reviews. Sure the performance is going to be slow when you use USB. I bought this because of the ESATA and it transfers extremely fast (80 mbs). It took me about 3 hours to fill this thing up. Yes it comes pre-formatted as FAT32 probably so both windows and os x will recognize it, and I did a quick format to NTFS that took all of 4 seconds. It also DOES have a fan, leading to my only complaint is that it is kind of loud. I will be using it for off-site backup though so it doesnt really matter. I would highly recommend this drive. |

Worst performance ever.

!st it comes forfatted with FAT 32. I formatted with NTFS and it took over 16 hours. Then to copy 1.7 TB of data took over 57 hours. This drive is not for anyone who wants performance! |

Packaging is great, I was impressed at first by the look and size of the server. However this server took over 6 hours just to backup 38GB of my system c drive. I was not happy about the speed at all, but i guess it's tolerable. With Acronis true Image I can backup my system c drive 38GB to hard drive in about 21 minutes... See the difference? The server ships with NTI Shadow Copy 4, On Vista if i don't set to Run as Admin, This software fails and closes also. At any rate performance here is not good with this server, but the amount of info is nice almost 2TB so that's a plus. There are hard drives alone that boast 1.5TB for a fraction of this cost however. I would say if Your not in a big hurry to backup then consider this server. |
Forget the noisy fan. This 2TB drive is worth every penny. Got it 2 weeks ago and plugged it straight in to my desktop right out of the box. No hassles installing. Vista instantly recognized it. If I need another one, I'd get this same guy anytime.
