Fractal Design Define R3 White ATX Mid Tower Silent Computer Case 2X5.25 8X3.5INT USB3.0 No PS
Cons:More assembly required than my Antec P183 case.No HD activity LED (which may not bother some).Ugly red power LED, which was blue on the box picture. Easy enough to disconnect.Difficult to snake 12v power supply cable to motherboard.
Pros:Decent craftsmanship, no sharp corners.Nice white colour option.Excellent fan speed control and 2 fans included.Perfectly fit my Corsair VX550 power supply so it would intake air from beneath case.Nice to have power button on top of case (though some might want it behind a locked door).Quiet operation. Comment:
I am happy enough with this purchase, though I admit to regrets that I did not order another Antec P183, which I love. I wanted a white case because this computer may end up in my wife's music studio and it looks great. I found it difficult to snake the 12V power cable to the top of the motherboard, having to twist back the case to fit the connector through the top rubber grommet. The grommet came out and was difficult to get back into place. The fan control is excellent. I appreciate the second included fan blowing across my hard drives. However, the red power LED is ugly and you must install the motherboard risers yourself, unlike the Antec P183.I'm giving this 4 stars because it was worth the $96 I paid for it but there are better cases if you are willing to pay more. |

Fractal Design Define R3 White ATX Mid Tower Silent Computer Case 2X5.25 8X3.5INT USB3.0 No PS
Cons:Wish it had more front portsThe bottom pass thru hole may be occluded by long power supplies.
Pros:QuietQuality finishWhite and black scheme is AWESOME! Comment:
I didn't want a black case, now I'm definitely sold on white cases. I love how the white interior goes with the black of the Gigabyte mobo, the brilliant blue of 4 sticks of HyperX memory, and the red of a Radeon card. I can't give an objective measure of how effective the sound damping lining is, but being sealed on the sides and top contributes to the quietness of the case. The included front and rear 120mm fans are also quiet. The case includes all the features you'll generally find in a modern case. Paired with a i7 2600K, the paint finish feels like a newly waxed sports car. VROOM! This review was modfied by poster @ 02-22-12 08:41 PM |
