Comment:
I liked this drive when I initially installed it and I like it now. Boot time is 30 seconds from energy on to completely functional desktop. Programs snap open in a second. New firmware 3.1 improves functionality with AMD ahci drivers. Flashing firmware was a little hard. Like I said in my first critique, "SOMEONE DIDN'T Acquire IT FOR ME". I attempted flashing the firmware with AMD ahci drivers installed and it would not work. I had to revert back to msahci drivers to flash the drive. The new ten.12 AMD ahci drivers pass the trim command. They can be found under MB chipset drivers. Crystal Disk Information shows the trim as working. My scores in ATTO elevated to 280 read and 265 create up about 7mbps more than my old scores. Right after loading AMD ahci I went to the registry and disabled the msahci drivers. I can boot into Windows 7 with no a issue. AS SSD verifies I am making use of the AMD Drivers. Also right after flashing firmware Crystal Disk Mark Shows ssd at 100% exactly where before flash it was 91%. I hope this information will help some folks.Newegg and G Skill Rock!!!!!!!!!!

Rather quick. Read/Write on CrystalDiskMark 220력, 270뢡 on ATTO. Quiet. Immediately after two hours of usage, create speeds dropped from 141 to 60-75. Stickers don't remain on well when removing the drive from my Sager NP8662. The sticker is an issue simply because warranty gets voided if removed. Seeing over 50% drop on write speeds(CrystalDiskMark) with no even a day of usage worries me. Had to use parted magic to restore speeds. My post on GSkill forum went fully ignored. I'd give it five out of five if it weren't for the sticker situation. Manufacturer Response:.Dear CustomerThank you for your G.Talent purchase and review. Please make positive you have the latest firmware, the write speeds should certainly not be drastically lowered. Also, having the most recent AHCI and Intel RST drivers may benefit this problem. -ssd technology-quick reads/writes-silent-just awesome -it could "not perform" at any time-the storage price is higher I made the switch from a wd raptor x 150gb model. That beast was 200 bones when I bought it. Now it shops steam for me leaving the ssd is in charge. That raptor is lOuD, and I imply scary below heavy load. My reasoning for the upgrade? Why have a quadcore all-in-one particular machine and have to wait for the disk to quit tearing itself apart attempting to load the goods?

Quite rapid drive and pure silent. The ssd was tiny bit larger than the difficult drive cage for the lenovo x201 tablet, even so I managed to get it to fit so not a really major issue. I do feel a sense of discomfort reading about drives that fail on these reviews. There is no ease of mind in owning this drive because I have experienced a crash already, it scares me that the drive may possibly fail so I have to back it up regularly. I've knowledgeable once crash so far given that I have installed. I'm not confident of it was mainly because of the drive or not, but right after the crash the technique could not recognize the boot drive. I had to turn it off and back on once more and it started operating once again. Also bought the 8gb ram from gskill, incredibly effortless to install and works beautifully. Manufacturer Response:.Dear BuyerThank you for your G.Ability purchase and review. We are sorry to hear about your discomfort. The score my drive got on passmark 񢊆) is presently higher than the average score of any challenging drive listed in the passmark database! (the average score of this drive is currently 1754 leaving it in 2nd location overall)I don't have to tell you what 285 MB/s will do, I'm confident you can consider the outcome of your own usage scenarios with such speed. A screw was loose in my laptop and I stupidly took off the cover to the hdd location whilst the laptop or computer was still on. However there need to have been some sort of static shock that created its way through the caddy and into the drive as it lost its beginning sector, and all information was temporarily unreadable. I was nonetheless, capable to repair this problem within an hour, and I chose not to remove a star as a outcome of the challenge considering that I am rather convinced that it was my fault completely. (I will update if the drive ever gets corrupted once again.)

Totally silent, rapidly. I used to be annoyed at getting to reboot following installing updates, programs, and so forth. but now due to the fact it takes about 20-30 seconds to boot, I dont mind at all. Price? Honestly, its worth the income. If you have windows 7, theres truly no need to modify a bunch of settings to optimize it for SSD usage because windows 7 does it for you already. Just make sure to disable defragmenting. Also, despite what other could say, DONT disable Process Restore. I've already had to do a full reinstall of windows due to an weird error after a windows update.

Quick. (Mostly) silent. Sometimes renders itself undetectable to BIOS. On these occasions, the personal computer will inexplicably reboot, and the SSD does not appear in the list of offered boot devices, major to a "MISSING OPERATING Program" error on bootup. The firmware update to three.1 aided somewhat (and even obtaining THAT to function was a nightmare) but it nevertheless occurs from time to time. The only way to get it to come back is to energy off the laptop entirely and wait a handful of seconds, then power on once again. If I'd identified this drive was going to be this flaky, I'd have spent the extra income to go OCZ. Not all SandForce drives are made equal! Rapid, for a week or two. Fails with no warning, inaccessible in BIOS, unreadable in an external enclosure--it just dies. I was sensible enough not to retailer anything meaningful on it the second time. I would not only not purchase this drive yet again, I'd in no way purchase from this manufacturer yet again. Rapid - SSD tends to make a huge distinction as your boot drive. Obtain it, use it. Win. I have two of these. One of them has worked fine. Good little drive for a Computer, installed in minutes and it's supersonic quick. For the price, the overall performance is awesome. Looking at some benchmarks briefly on the internet it looks to be faster than a Patriot Torqx 128GB drive I have been running for a year now. I would compare this to the speed of the Torqx just by watching the startup occasions. Doesn't perform in a MAC OSX like a tricky drive must, also bad G.Skill doesn't place focus on the Mac intense customers as well - two eggs. Confident other people today have stated they created it function, nonetheless taking the drive out to format it and put it back in is a perform about and shouldn't count as a repair. It's not effectively operating unless you can boot up from the MAC OSX disk and execute a format on it as you would with a standard hard drive. Even the vendor stated the latest firmware doesn't function with Mac OSX. I attempted with Mac OSX Snow Leopard and a Mac Pro 2006 version 1, 1 with no achievement. Yes whilst I could've taken it out and formatted it... bla bla bla I decided to set up it in one particular of my PCs instead (that's when it worked wonderfully). Is it MAC OSX or the controller on the drive? Who knows. I do know that the Patriot drive operates and it has a unique controller. Mac users acquire the Patriot Torqx 128GB instead for a suitable drive that will work with Mac (just don't anticipate a resolution like trim for a Mac anytime quickly - thanks to Apple will have to rely on garbage collection in the meantime). Pc users that have no intention to moving over to Mac will be very satisfied with this drive. My wife purchased this drive for me as a Christmas present by means of Newegg when it was on special for black friday. Employing this in conjunction with a 1TB Baracuda (for storage). I have a seriously tough time bogging this thing down. As soon as solid state engineering is less costly than tricky drive on a GB to GB level, hard drives will swiftly turn into obsolete. This drive has consistently held a single of the highest positions considering that its introduction. I run GSkill memory, and now GSkill storage and I don't regret it. Rapidly, works good. Tight fit in notebook. Initially I was truly afraid to try this brand provided all bad critiques. Right after some investigation I discovered out that all complications are due to undesirable/beta firmware of Sandforce controller. Read article about how this occurred. Really, that's fault of Sandforce organization. Firmware 3.1 is the official release firmware that takes care of all the problems. I was lucky sufficient to get this SSD with 3.1 firmware already installed, so I had no problems at all. Installed Win 7 x64 and Ubuntu ten.10 side-by-side on this disk. Fitting it to Acer 4820T was somewhat tight due to the "box"-kind of the drive. "Normal" two.five" tough-drives have non-box shape that some notebook producers take advantage of, but if notebook is produced to the specs of two.5" difficult-drive, you will not have any issue. So far this SSD takes up all the beating I place on it - Photoshop, quite a few games, motion pictures, software development. Hope it will function for at least a year....
