Incredibly rapid, really trustworthy, no efficiency degradation more than time. Draws much less power than a 7200 RPM drive. Recognized promptly on my Macbook Pro and went straight to work. Cost, but it's absolutely a fantastic value for what you get. Sandforce SSDs are some of the greatest you can get for Mac since garbage collection is internal. |

The controller is incredibly fast but I don't see a considerable difference between the Sandforce controller and the Intel-X25M's controller. They are each very quickly. I purchased the X25-M 120GB for my girlfriend and I am using this G.Skill mainly because I heard that it is kinda hard to install and properly setup this SSD. Initially I could not make this SSD to function under SATA mode. But after upgrading the firmware, I was able to make it perform under SATA mode.If you ever get some message like "Could not find MBR" or some thing like this, check your BIOS settings. It's not a challenge of this SSD. It is a issue of you. Will need Skill to Install I saw a lot of individuals commenting B*S* about this SSD and gave themselves extremely high tech information. I just couldn't recognize them. If you don't know SSD, don't get it. G.SKILL is rock solid. |

Got it on sale thats about it for the moment. Unable to properly mount this SSD to my antec p182 case. Whatever mount it came with was completely useless for this case. Non-normal HD screw holes so I couldnt use the screws that was made for this case although it works perfectly fine for my normal hd. Even if the screw hole did fit, I would be only able to tighten only two front screws since the back back wouldnt be able to reach the other screw holes. Remedy? double side tape on the mount and slap it on somewhere.. seriously guys, spending a frustration hour just to install a HD? Thats horrible Manufacturer Response:.Dear ClientWe are sorry to hear you are having difficulties mounting this SSD. The screws supplied are to be utilised to mount the SSD onto the mounting bracket. Then using the holes on your desktop chassis, mount the bracket with the screws supplied. There are correct screw total, so 4 to mount the SSD and four to mount the bracket onto the chassis. Performance was great initially and it improved immediately after I installed Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver 9.6..1014, enabled AHCI in bios, disabled defrag, method restore, prefetch & superfetch. Rapidly...quickly...quickly...actually quick. Swift boot up and shut down speed. Applications load more rapidly than ever... Essentially, it works like a charm. Biggest con: I am acquiring BSOD if I try to put my laptop to sleep with this HDD. I tried it in a distinct laptop, and still the very same effect. Due to the fact it's rapidly in booting up and shutting down, I really don't put this in sleep. But as soon as in a although I forget to do that and ends up in a BSOD. Drives are quick and stable on the most recent firmware, if you've got lucky ones. Out of three drives, one was DOA. I had one more that was really flaky on initially boot (hotplugging SATA power would get the drive to come on and recognize). The DOA was RMA'ed with Newegg with no issue. Wish I had gone the identical route with the other one. It's been in G.Skill's hands waiting for a replacement given that December 3rd. Nonetheless waiting. Assistance is horrible. With a 66% failure rate for me, I'm leery about putting anything important on these drives. I've been keeping significantly greater backups these days and hoping that absolutely nothing else happens. Also hoping that G.Skill gets their "backordered" replacement drives in and Finally sends me one. Here's a hint G.Skill... Newegg has them in stock. Order 1 and ship it to me! It's truly very rapidly. I was amazed at the speed. Got the BSOD soon after only about two hours and only ordering a pizza on-line. Then on restart when it attempted to CheckDisk it could not, said some thing about unable to access. Then Windows would no longer shutdown, just sat on shutdown screen for hours various instances. At this point the program was still somewhat functional but surely a challenging shutdown everytime is not practical nor healthy for the program. The tech is just now getting inexpensive and therefore a lot of cost cutting design. The reliability of SSDs appears to be questionable at the moment because it seems practically universally folks have had quite a few troubles that you hardly ever face with a traditional HDD; BSOD, DOA/Undetected, OS errors. Also the 3.five adapter is a little brief, it fit width wise, but only two of the four pins on the mounting brackets could be utilized so it kind of just swivels and rest on the HDD below it, no biggie I guess.I also feel it is in fact smaller than a traditional two.five mainly because it wasn't even close in the two.five floppy bay which i don't use (who still utilizes a floppy?)Of course my other 2.five has a nice card reader i installed.I hope the replacement isn't faulty too. I have to admit that I was worried about receiving a DOA/defective drive due to some of the early critiques. On the other hand, given the drive's low cost I expected QA to be lower than "premium" manufactures.I took the leap, and the drive performs precisely as advertised! Not a lot else to say definitely, I've been abusing this factor with lots of games which includes the Minecraft alpha, which is a total resource hog, and haven't experienced any difficulties. None. Not the most attractive drive, but I'm not a "disco case" individual. This drive is the ideal size for housing Windows 7, regular programs, and Globe of Warcraft (which for me presently weighs in at 25 GB). With all that installed I nonetheless have ㅪ GB totally free space.I run two standard 1 TB HDDs in RAID 1 for media storage and so on. It's a great setup - All the speed of a SSD and sufficient (slower) storage for massive files. Plus this puts all my compressed information on regular HDDs, which is a good situation as apparently you don't want to be writing lots of compressed data to any Sandforce 1200-based SSD - It will trigger them to slow their throughput over time. |

Rapidly Drive close sufficient to as advertised. Own the original Falcon as well and it's lasted three+ years, and this has comparable construct construction...expecting comparable high quality of life. They don't do a BOGO deal to make afforadble Raid greatness. I did have an issue that my Intel controller in RAID mode could not see the lone drive at all truly. Turned it back to AHCI and it worked just fine. Fairly certain my RAID controller got fried by a faulty PSU anyways, so not truly blaming it on the drive. Working with this drive as my ONLY drive in my gaming PC. For those "high technical" people that can't comprehend why their 120 GB drive comes in at 111 instead of close to 120, it's mainly because they are following original drive standards. The ones coming in at legit 120s are really 124-128 GB drives that are losing that in formatting, like any classic HDD. The filetable has to exist somerwhere. I tried this in multiple PC and Laptop applications that I've had access to with no problems...so "very disappointed's" posting just indicates he could want to reassess his tech competency level. |

Does what it's meant to do. Excellent SSD. Got it for 趐 about 2 months ago sadly. The super low access time and the great read speed makes loading points quite fast. It's much more on a gripe on Sandforce and AMD's lack of support there, but most ssd's do far better with Intel drivers or Microsoft drivers, AMD specific SATA drivers on the other hand removes the garbage or TRIM capability if running on raid. Luckily I didn't get one from the batch of defective ssd's. |

Awsomeness Had to rma the first 1, no biggie. I had alot of possibilities till the new a single got her wasted all of 45 min. I previosly wrote a assessment exactly where the windows experience rateing on Windows 7, 64 bit utimate was rated at 7.7. Nevertheless, I changed my OC back to a four.6Gig I7 with 1600mhz ram and the disck rating altered to a 7.8. So preserve in thoughts that these drives are topic to your other hardware in the speeds you will acheive. When I altered back to a 4.6 I7 oc my processor and ram went to a 7.8 rating as did the drive. so maintain that in thoughts if you are looking for insane speeds but do not have the processor and ram to back it. Also the X58 chipset can not suprpass 600mbs total by way of put so having two of these and other drives may well lead to a bottle neck if you do max the by means of put. Just wanted to let folks know I hope that someone finds this helpfull.
