Anything one requirements in most up-to-date generation mother boards. USB three, SATA II, Effortless bios utilization, and plugs and inputs had been straightforward to reach. A lot of fan outputs on board. Price was not even outrageous for the good quality and selections of this board. Driver/utility disk brought on errors with installation. They installed, but brought on method to freeze up on XP Pro. I had to manually restart laptop or computer on sveral occasions. I lastly, just installed ethernet driver and downloaded rest them from website and threw disk in box. Good frisbee.....whoa.....this in itself was not sufficient to drop an egg. plus that's messy. Bios came with most update....Nice. Up grading RAM speed to manufacture spec was quite effortless with no voltage raise. Just select appropriate speed and on she went.

Starts off excellent...low-cost This board failed after a month of usage. I began receiving stuttering in Windows 7 that became continuous. I replaced the board and all of the parts worked fine. This board has tormented me for a month now. I returned for a refund and upgraded to the GA-890FXA-UD5. No difficulties with the new 1. Save yourself the time and trouble, just get the UD5.

Advanced capabilities: AM3 socket, SATA II, USB 2., RAID*LOTS* of SATA slots (think server)Posted with out an problem.Dual monitor output (VGA+HDMI) permits me to combine what used to be two separate PCs into a single box. Nice sufficient to incorporate four color-coded SATA II data cables but there are six SATA II slots. Seriously?Gigabyte's utility computer software and driver disk have usually been a disappointment. Don't mess with the packaged computer software, go to their web web site and get the latest. You're just wasting your time if you install from the disk. The ET6 computer software that supposedly makes it possible for you to overclock, and so on crashes whenever I attempt to use it. I'm actually happy with this board. It's my second HTPC build with a Gigabyte board and I feel this one fixes the shortcomings of the first. The obtainable SATA controllers signifies I maintain anything running on a single box instead of farming out a different machine for storage. The board drives the blu-ray drive and outputs digital audio to my receiver. The HDMI picture is great.

Gigabyte MB in the past have worked fantastic, that's why I went with this one... I was shocked to encounter all the Issues with this 1. Soon after hooking it all up, without even hooking up any challenging drives, I booted it up, got into the bios, and the menu froze. (Should have been my initial clue). Right after getting a tough drive and OS installed, multiple restarts, many blue screens. At 1 point I would turn the computer on, and it would just sit there, blank screen. I remove all the tough drives, bios would then load. I've had great experiences with past Gigabyte MB, but this 1 I can not recommend. Other gigabyte mb may possibly work out greater, keep away from this one. Manufacturer Response:Dear Customer,Thank you for your comments. We apologize for your difficulty with your Gigabyte item. Quickly stable and easy to use. Really like the cpu unlock and turbo settings runs my 1090T X6 Black edition with out a hitch. Also my 16gbs of DDR3 1600 sails didnt have to play in the BIOS at all! Properly not actually a con but putting a preformance cooler on it could overhang into my memory slots so have to come across 1 that fits.

Not definitely a con but, Sata connectors seemed to be in an awkward place. may have just been the case i put it in. Attempt connecting all your cables ahead of attaching the mobo to the case!!

It is a good motherboard. Properly laid out, nicely documented, well packaged. When you add a VGA card the onboard VGA gets turned off automatically. Would run for about three days prior to it would start off freezing and ultimately not re-post.Utilised all ram from vendors list nothing would budge16gigs of g. skill ram seemed to be too significantly for it. Tested each and every component in the setup and immediately after significantly deliberation i finally changed out the board with the asus M4a89GTD Pro and blammo successI essentially RMA'd this board twice and got a refund for it twiceended up losing rather a bit of income on this board considering that I had to pay return shipping, and lost cash on refund mainly because of combo discounts.Gigabyte has usually been great to me, used it for just about each and every build over the past ten years, but this board took away at least 48 hours of my life that I will never get back! Go asus at least for the 890 chipset and i will follow up in the future. Manufacturer Response:Dear Customer,Thank you for your comments. We apologize for your difficulty with your Gigabyte product. Lots of connections, supposedly durable and all that. IDE functions but corrupts information. I've tried three diverse CD-ROM drives, and 3 diverse IDE cables, with much more various media than I can don\'t forget. All resulted in strange read / write errors. Eventually I gave up, and bought a SATA CD-ROM, bingo, no far more errors on any of the media previously attempted. I'd have RMA'd the thing, but it required to be in a customer project -correct now-. Hopefully the rest of it doesn't go kaput. Gigabyte is not an inexpensive brand. I anticipate that they Truly TEST their item ahead of they ship it, automated test fixtures do exist.

I don't own this particular motherboard, but rather one that was discontinued approx 3 months ago. Even though swapping parts out to troubleshoot my brother's pc, my own pc went on the fritz. GFX fan began speeding up and slowing down, no picture, and the heatsink fan did not function when plugged into the mobo. Right after hours of troubleshooting, I discovered that the mobo was to blame.Soon after going by way of the RMA method, Gigabyte took a week to give me a replacement, or so I thought. THEY SENT ME BACK THE ORIGINAL MOTHERBOARD With out FIXING A Thing. So when I put every little thing back together, I got the identical problem. Gigabyte has cost me A LOT of precious time and income, specifically now that the academic year has started. I've dealt with some low-quality brands, but I've Never ever in my life been given back my original, non-working hardware in the RMA approach, until nowadays. Thanks Gigabyte. Now I have to remain on campus so late that I risk acquiring fined by security just to get my function accomplished. I will never ever acquire another Gigabyte product ever once more, soon after this blatant slap in the face. Manufacturer Response:Dear Customer,Thank you for your comments. the board appears to support a lot of attributes and runs quite quick. Thankfully I can use my pc in spite of problems written in cons section. I cannot get a driver to function for the onboard video chipset, the ATI radeon HD 4290. I installed every single driver on the cd that came with it. Then I installed all drivers that were suggested from their website. Then particularly sought out the driver for the video chipset. None of these drivers are helping, perhaps my mobo is defective. The phone number in their driver utility application goes to Taiwan, my telephone cannot call it. All I could do was submit a ticket for help on their site, that was two days ago and I did not even obtain confirmation they got it. Appears like they make it tough to get consumer support. When windows launches and the video chipset is enabled, I get a black screen at login time. I actually spent about two weeks attempting to realize what was wrong prior to Microsoft's support figured it out for me. Luckily my laptop or computer works fine when I disable the video chipset, but I spent a lot of time attempting to troubleshoot this, and I'm not getting any aid from the manufacturer.

Good Value (look for offers on this - I located mine at a sharp discount at a nearby shop and got a rebate on top)Built like a brick Hit or miss on getting a working board. My initial board was DOA. I wasted a lot of time diagnosing it. Two DIMM slots didn't work at all Ƒ and 2) and two were flaky. Lots of spontaneous reboots on stock settings. My first board was rev two.1I swapped it and the new create has been running quite smoothly considering that. My new board is rev 3.1.

This board is quite well laid out, and just looks beautiful in general. A lot of SATA ports, really uncomplicated to read descriptions of jumpers, and nothing obstructive to block any of the larger heatsinks or anything of that nature. The board itself just feels like it could withstand wuite a bit of abuse prior to it would give out, which makes me believe it could be a very solid selection for enthusiasts attempting to break records. While I'm on that subject, it managed to take my Thuban to 4.two Ghz with no problems, and the NB appears to be staying at really stable temps even with it clocked up and a few far more volts applied. Not definitely a con because pretty much all boards are like this, but i hate the placement of the 8 pin connector. I forgot it was in the leading left corner until I had already installed the board and my H70 cooler into the case, and had to take the H70 out in order to get the cable into the board. I don't think you can do far better for the cost. Great board.

There is a floppy connector at the botton of the motherboard. Anybody still using the floppy disk? My grandpa should be a fan of that. The onboard video is great for high resolution (1920x1080) widescreen monitor, and responsive enough for movies with NO stutters. It is perfect for work and play music. I am not sure how CrossFire or even hybrid onboard + PCIe video on this board. Cool color scheme. Is the item compatible with both Debian and Ubuntu GNU/Linux? the onboard sound is supported as Linux hardware compatibility report. So I could tell only the analog ports at present have any Linux support, not the optical output. I can confirm that all the analog ports, front and back, function in Debian and Ubuntu are working. Not sure anything else. Fully compatible with both Debian and Ubuntu GNU/Linux per my experience. The "On/Off Charge Technology" feature is really cool. I could charge USB devices such as my cell even when the computer is off. Even it isn't an advertised feature when I bought Rev. Now Gigabyte is my NO1 option brand. They continue to add cool new stuff. The onboard audio is awesome - the front panel headphone and mic analog jacks, and with Audigy compiled into the kernel and the onboard audio compiled as a module, and the sound high quality is great. But if you're trying to make an inexpensive Linux HTPC using the onboard SPDIF, do some extra work to find if that's supported. Why the mix of USB 3. + USB 2.? And SATA III & SATA II? Wouldn't a board with all SATA III ports and all USB three. ports be "backwards compatible" with SATA II hardware & USB 2. hardware? Are some devices truly stubbornly "not-forwards compatible" or what? Why does every manufacturer contain a mix of brand new and previous protocols when the newer, superior, quicker protocols are 1st released? Oh properly, whatever. It is not for video games, but enough for work

Cons: no SLI support

Pros: many features
Comment:
You can patch it so that Nvidia cards can have SLI on this board. I don't think there's anything lacking here, but of course it can't compete with the new boards.
