Comment:
Well I finally upgraded my MB and this was my pick after much research. I had looked at Gigabyte before and was impressed with the build quality, design and feature set. Coupled this with the AMD Athlon II X4 640 Quad, Mushkin Enhanced Silverline Stiletto 8GB 2X4GB Kit, and previously updated power supply. My Windows 7 64 bit BSOD problems seem to have disappeared (knock wood). Had to do the original install in IDE mode (since Sata optical drives in AHCI would not boot the Windows 7 64 bit CD), then switch the windows standard drivers over to the AMD Sata drivers in the OS, then reboot and enable SATA with AHCI instead of native IDE. Still have to figure out why full SATA won't allow you to boot from an optical SATA disk, it reads them in the bios but will not boot from them. This board is a bit low on slots, using my older 8800 GTS, it only runs in the 8 x slot, unfortunately it blocks a PCI slot and the last PCI slot with a SB Audigy card covers the fan on the Vid card. So will have to upgrade to a PCI-E soundcard, which I have been planning to anyways. This would be the perfect board for a HTPC, I have it in a big case will have a lot of add-ins eventually and upgrades to the faster USB and SATA.Considering this package of MB, CPU, and memory mentioned, all came to about $300 with tax, is a no - brainer and it runs smooth and fast.I'm liking it!

GIGABYTE GA-890GPA-UD3H ATX AMD Motherboard
Cons: needs more than two sata cables

Pros: Fully compatible with Ubuntu 10.10. Cheap for all the extras
Comment:
I like Gigabyte. I started building with them 2 years ago. They are fairly reliable and I like the color coding on the board. The onboard fake RAID works well enough and is currently making backups of important data.

GIGABYTE GA-890GPA-UD3H ATX AMD Motherboard
Cons: Ram slots are soooo close to the cpu.

Pros: Onboard video is actually pretty good. Sound is great too.
Comment:
Great board for the money. It comes with onboard video and sound which both work great. The only con i found was the Ram slots are like right next to the cpu. Also the SATA cables are angled towards the side, just a tad annoying to get in.

Purchased my first non-Asus motherboard. All my previous MB's were all Asus, that's about two dozen of them between me and friends in the past few years. I couldnt find all the features that this board had in an Asus without going over the $200 price range. I got this for $127.30 and no complaints at all. I love all of the features and for this price i am blown away. Now my friend wants to give Gigabyte mb's a try. It was a nice run Asus, but I have now found my new winner.

GIGABYTE GA-890GPA-UD3H ATX AMD Motherboard
Cons: None I can think of right now. Unfortunately, although it has 2 pci x16, if you want to crossfire, you can only run them at x8 x8 speed. Its not that big of an issue, because comparable MB with the 890 chip also allow x8 x8 speed on crossfire.

Pros: Alot of features4 sata cablesPower on the USB even when the computer is closed!!
Comment:
Of the 890 mobo, this gigabyte is probably the cheapest yet one of the best you can find! The front USB is also really nice. They remain powered even when you shut down your computer! In other words, you can plug in your ipods and then shut down your computer to let them recharge while the computer is closed! (on my other computers, I have to leave them open to recharge my ipods)So if you are on a budget, and want to spend your money where it counts (GPU and CPU), this board can certainly meet the above criterion! If you want to do crossfire on x16 x16, id recommend getting one of the better 890 board (stay with Gigabyte to keep the cool features!)

GIGABYTE GA-890GPA-UD3H ATX AMD Motherboard
Cons: none so far

Pros: Solid construction, lots of space between CPU and memory slots, convenient layout, fairly cool running board, easy assembly, good overclocking features
Comment:
I received the board yesterday and marveled at how shiny and solidly built it is. Had no problem installing the CPU and memory, power cables, video card (although once my other memory sticks arrive, I might give the onboard video a whirl)or PCI soundblaster card.Fits like a glove in an older (read: temporary) mid-tower ATX case. Nothing on this mobo feels flimsy. Plus, it's pretty to look at. Great price for all of the future-proof features you get with it.I've only started futzing around with overclocking, but so far, it's been simple and informative to do. Can't go too crazy in my case, since I have a purple box Phenom II x2 550 with only the stock cooler. Speaking of which, there's lot of room for a big after-market CPU cooler, so for those who want to put a plane hangar wind turbine on their x6 1090T will probably be quite pleased.

GIGABYTE GA-890GPA-UD3H ATX AMD Motherboard
Cons: - Really not enough fan headers imo. Also they're location aren't the best.- They should have replaced the useless bottom PCI slot with a PCI-E 1x so I could have used a Killer NIC card as I have no room with a crossfire of dual-cards and a sound card.- Some voltage increment in the bios are too big. For example on the cpu it goes 1.475 then 1.50 and 1.52, nothing between...

Pros: - Very nice looking.- Awesome layout, much better than Asus 890GX.- Crossfire ready (Using 2xHD5770)- Extremly easy to flash the bios.- Lots of options in the bios, huge overclocking potential (See below)- Very efficient northbridge and vrm cooling.- Price once PM isn't too high and well worth it.
Comment:
I first bought the Asus 890GX, it happened that it somehow was defective, had over billions of different BSOD.. I RMA it and chose this board which I would have took in the first place if I would have knew about it. All problems were gone and the rest was only better. I finaly been able to overclock fairly easily my (AMD X6 1055T) from 2.8 to 4.0Ghz with 1.52v on air cooling.

Comment:
This board has been working great with my AMD Phenom II X6 1055T, and allows for Crossfire, although that is still in the pipeline for me. Paired with Patriot Perfomancer Gamer Series ram and a Coolermaster Hyper 212 heatsink. Very good heatsinks on the board and good build quality throughout. No issues with overclocking and easy with the great BIOs.

Pros: -LOTS of USB connectors.

Just completed a build using this board paired with a Phenom II X6 and 4GB of DDR3 1600 G.Skill RAM. Installation was easy as Gigabyte provides great manuals. No problems - everything posted first try. Seems to be running very well. I went into the BIOS right away and manually set the memory timings to match the RAM specs. Oh yeah, and if you want lots of front USB ports this board delivers. My case had 4, plus I hooked up a front memory card reader, and I still have a open hub on the board. No issues whatsoever so far.

GIGABYTE GA-890GPA-UD3H ATX AMD Motherboard
Cons: Lacks accessories in box, style

Pros: Inexpensive, Full graphics, USB 3.0, Crossfire
Comment:
Currently running this board with 8GB of DDR3, a 5870XXX and a new phenom X6 and it runs like a dream. Anyone who needs a newer series of AM3 board should consider this for performance, as well as for home theatre/office use due to the onboard graphics. The RAM slots are a little tight, and the unit comes with the bare minimum of accessories (8 SATA ports, only 4 cables?!?). Besides those minor flaws, you get a great board for a decent cost. It has some decent overclocking skills as well.

GIGABYTE GA-890GPA-UD3H ATX AMD Motherboard
Cons: - Only Two USB 3.0 Ports - Four Would Have Been Better Since They Are Backward Compatible With 2.0.- RAM Was Set To "Auto" In Bios That Led To System Instability To To Really Aggressive Timings. Once Things Were Properly Setup, Windows Ran Without Any Problems.- 1.0 Rev, Not 2.0.

Pros: - AMD/ATI 850 Chipset.- Gigabyte Quality.- USB 3.0.- AM3.- Supports Six Core Processors.
Comment:
Bought this board for a completely new build as I have had good luck with Gigabyte boards after switching from ASUS (also a good motherboard company). I put it inside a new Antec Sonata III case with an AMD Phenom II 550 Black Edition CPU, 4 Gigs of Corsair DDR-3 RAM, WD Caviar Black 640 SATA Drive, Sony DVD-RW and a Gigabyte 5670 Video Card.Prior to installing Windows, I updated the motherboard BIOS to F6 version. As of this writing there is an F7B version, but it is beta, and I do not use beta BIOS. I went into the BIOS and configured it as I normally would on any new system build. I did not, however, adjust the RAM, and this is where the problems began. I left the setting to "auto" and instead of using the RAM timings of 9-9-9-24, the BIOS set it to 8-8-8-17, and using faster settings for other RAM parameters. Not only did two Windows XP installations go haywire with freezing and error messages, but Prime 95 would cease to run its "Blend" test after three minutes, locking up my system. After testing the RAM, thinking some hardware component was failing, I noticed the RAM settings and manually set them myself and re-installed Windows. Installed and updated properly, and Prime 95 Blend tests ran for a while with no problems or lockups. Not sure exactly what the difference between motherboard revision 1.0 and 2.0 are, but I doubt the differences would be noticeable especially for the people who will be using this build (non gamers, non-oc'ers).With USB 3.0 devices right around the corner, I wonder why Gigabyte only included two USB 3.0 ports on their board. Granted it is a NEC controller, but four would have been nice, especially since they are all backward compatible. It would have been even nicer to be able to plug in the front USB connectors on the Sonata III and have USB 3.0 on the front of the case.Although several motherboard makers will release BIOS updates for their boards so they can run the new six core CPU's from AMD, I wanted to make this build as "futureproof" as I could using the latest chipsets available. Granted the CPU is not a quad or a six core, it will improve on the older 2.4 Ghz dual core that was in their previous build. This build would have had Windows 7 on it, but the users of this build are more familiar with XP and do not wish to upgrade that at this time. There is no problem using any stock heatsink on the board and having all the RAM slots taken up. RAM with taller heatsinks and aftermarket coolers may have issues. The angled SATA connectors are a nice addition - they are all angled 90 degrees, so it makes running the cables seem much neater. Was still surprised to see a floppy drive connector on the board. Not sure who still uses them, but I haven't in years. The front panel header is color coded on the board, but the writing is quite small. An additional connector with clear print on it would have been nice, and I have seen them with other boards, most notably the last ASUS board I owned. Made hooking everything up much easier.I did not test or try out the onboard video.Bought this board on sale and am not disappointed with it at all. I only wish I had this board for my own build.Just make sure to go through all the BIOS settings in order to make things smooth.I would buy this board again, and will, in any other future builds I do.
