USB3SATA6 (one out of Three SATA controllers on board)Improved BIOS layout in F6J is fantastic, easy to realize with lots of present status details. Every detail accessible and not hidden that I could see. Would like to see Intel LAN at this price tag rangeCombo USB/eSATA connectors are a gimmick, would like discreet connectors so I can use each at the similar time. Attempting for 3x SLI/crossfire with decreased PCIEx8 is unnecessary, would much rather have 2x SLI PCIEx16 and have the extra slots in a position exactly where they can be utilised nevertheless.

Truly have no complaints about board performance. It's worth at least a single egg. Think it is unfortunate that board comes with no mounting hardware and no warning of such deficiency in the product advertisements. Wasn't a difficulty for me this time mainly because I've accumulated parts over the years, but what of the new guy to the enterprise of building his own? How considerably could it expense them to throw in the hardware, a dollar possibly two? Is this an market trend or just Gigabyte?

I have had this board for almost 2 years and have place it by way of the ringer. I use it for professional audio which taxes technique resources HEAVILY. I haven't had to deal with latency spikes or any other sort of product deficiencies/breakdowns that would have an effect on my work. It has been scalable sufficient and function-rich sufficient to meet all of my wants since I got it in ཅ. Absolutely nothing that isn't currently obvious (size, weight, price tag)

All of it truly. Received the version 2 board. Correct elements and proper board for my wants. Nicely laid out components, no issues receiving to any of them. I use a full ATX situation, so I have no complaints about where one thing plugs into. A complete ATX board is meant for a total ATX situation. Tends to make life simpler. No benchmarks but the board is whippy quick and the bios is nicely thought out. Plenty of options. Gigabyte consists of a driver set up disk that is fairly considerably bullet proof. Use it if you are unfamiliar with installing drivers. I used the included drivers to see how well items went. It went properly, very nicely. There are some later drivers now on the Gigabyte web page so get those when you can. About the board, none so far. Operates as advertised and performs properly. Had two minor concerns. Most likely related to how I built using Windows XP, SP3 with most recent updates. Continuous drive access with Seagate 7200 Sata drive. I disabled all unused SATA ports to fix that issue. Dual LAN gave me some difficulty initially, but that was my dilemma. Was a fresh install of XP and XP was not dealing nicely with the dual LAN ports. Busy the second LAN on an XP install, then allow the LAN when finished. Neither of these are adequate to knock off an egg. Fantastic board, been extremely pleased with it.Corsair 650 WATT CMPSU-650TX Corsair TR3X3G1600C8D G ( 4 GIG )Seagate 750G 7K ST3750528AS% ( 7200 rpm SATA )GIGABYTE GV-R58OC-IGD ( ATI 5850 GRAPHIC CARD )INTEL I7 - 950 3.06 CPUSCYTHE SFF80B 80mm Fans ( very, incredibly rather fans )

No troubles at all! I purchased this motherboard to update from a Q9300 processor which I also utilised a Gigabyte motherboard with. I updated to the 980x processor with 24 gig memory. I just hooked my SSD boot drive to it and booted proper up than updated drivers and in no way looked back. None but, all is well. Some people may have a dilemma with some of the SATA connections if their situation doesn't have a lot of area.

The board has a ton of USB and SATA ports. So if you think that you want to use the 6GB SATA controller or the Inte ICH10R, you'll have a lot of options. Overal the board supports all of the i7 initially generation CPUs with out situation (including 6 cores), and does will with DDR3 triple channel RAM. Frankly, with the top of the line components installed (video card, CPU, RAM)... that most up-to-date Intel CPUs barely edge this rig out, and typically are not more quickly. The biggest concern I've had is that the board WILL NOT permit you to boot from an ADD-IN HOST ADAPTER (such as a 3Ware 9650 or an LSI 9750). If you set up an SSD to use for a page file (swap space) and attach it to the Intel ICH10R, forget booting from a "SCSI" device. Extra, efficiency testing shows that the board's 6GB SATA controller is actually not incredibly excellent compared to either the Intel controller, or, specifically add-in adapters, such as the 3ware/LSI units. In reality it's essentially a waste to use it if you want perforance. My configuration isɅ x 3Ware 9650 SATA controller w/ 2 300GB Velociraptors, 1 x LSI 9750 SATA controller w/ 2 600GB velociraptors, 6 x 4GB Corsair DDR XMS3 RAM, i7-980X CPU ࿀nm, 6 cores), ATI HD 5870. What I've noticed is that the add-in RAID controllers fairly considerably destroy most of the SSDs I've tried with the velociraptors in RAID . The on-boad RAID does not come close in overall performance, as it's got no cache RAM. The Intel ICH10R with an Intel 120GB X-25M SSD operateds at about 175MB/sec, which is fantastic, but not unbelievable, and not overall more rapidly than the RAID velociraptors.

Fast new technology when you can get it to function.Incorporates some neat features such as cmos flash and energy on the board. Giving it 1 egg b/c the bios is total garbage. I am past the 30 day RMA so I am stuck with this brick. POST refuses to go into setup screen upon "del" important. and will freeze up. Have tried Qflash and other selections but at times it does and from time to time it doesnt operate when you press the choice keys at begining of POST. Not seriously a fault, as there are a entire lot of elements stuffed into an ATX form factor board. The three spots areɅ. As others have talked about, the proper angle SATA connectors can be tricky if you attempt to cram this into a tight case. Even most mid-tower cases are going to be truly tight. You bought this board for all that SATA, right? So you're going to use a lot of drives, appropriate? So, get a full tower case.2. The RAM DIMM slots are pretty close to the CPU, so if you're going to overclock with spendy RAM, which usually has high heatsinks on the DIMMs, you may run into interference problems with an oversized CPU cooling technique. Basic solution: go liquid cooled for max overall performance.3. The 1st PCI Express-1 slot is jammed up against the heatsink for the X58A chip, so a lot of PCIEx-1 boards just won't fit. If you plan on using both PCIEx-1 slots, be confident that at least one particular of the boards will fit in that tight slot. Lots of negative information posted right here! Rev1 boards nonetheless shipping. Rev2 due in the US any day. In the mean time, Rev1 boards are fantastic, Rev2 has minor improvements, but does NOT obsolete Rev1. Rev1 is on sale with rebate ideal now.Yes, the F1 BIOS wasn't 100%. These days, F5 is readily available. So is an updated manual. When you get the mobo, update the BIOS and download the newest doco and drivers. No one must blame Gigabyte for this: other mobo mfg's do the exact same factor frequently. Any individual needing a mobo of this complexity should be smart adequate to ignore the shipped CD and manual. The "missing eSATA bracket" post was referring to an errant page in the old manual. No bracket necessary.Following studying posts right here, I carefully chosen a new situation for this mobo. I highly recommend the CoolerMaster CM 690 II Advanced. The situation is excellent, and fits this mobo like a glove. That situation has holes in the mobo assistance panel right underneath exactly where the SATA connectors are, and connections are a dream.

Performs Wonderful! No hassles getting to perform at all! This motherboard has a enormous wide variety of interfaces, but it would be nice if it has an internal eSATA header (but it does have and eSATA connector on the back of the situation). Excellent Board.SATA three , USB three., 2 Lan PortsWorks great for hackintosh, linux, Win 7 (Yeah triple booting)!!Clear CMOS button on the back in case you genuinely screw a thing up on settings.LCD display of existing state for troubleshooting Shares USB and eSATA Ports, so if you want to use eSATA you lose a USB. Is it also much trouble to keep them seperate?? effectively at least they give them to you.USB3 not recognized in MACOSX neither is SATA three, but this isn't a issue with the board, but MAC OS.Heatsinks around the processor made me a little nervous that my cpu cooler wasn't going to fit, it did. Huge CPU Cooler like the Thermaltake one particular doesn't operate with super tall memory, not really a con of the motherboard, but just wanted to mention it so that your conscious if you get it, I had to put the CPU fan in more a pull than a push arrangment, doesn't perform as very good but provides area for up to 6 sticks of the tall ram.Fairly Lights. Flash your bios before carrying out your create, save you some heartache possibly later ( this is just intelligent practice) Can flash from a USB stick!!I swore up and down following my other Gigabyte board (Nvidia 680i), I would not purchase an additional one, but this 1 was too tempting. So far not regretting it.

First off: I received my board this week, it's rev two.!!! With the most current BIOS pre-installed. So I had no difficulty booting up my Core i7-980X. The X58/ICH10R chipset mixture from Intel has utterly remarkable bandwidth with RAID- and SSD's. Making use of two Intel X25-E Extreme Series SSD's my prior Gigabyte P45 chipset based motherboard achieved a impressive RAID- bandwidth of 440MB/s read speeds. With the quite similar SSD's I'm now acquiring 560MB/s read speeds on this X58 board. Wow!I've been in a position to overclock, on air, my Core i7 980X to four.3Ghz which remains stable. I was able to boot at 4.5Ghz. I have memory running at 1900Mhz, with 6ƦGB G.Skill Trident DIMM's. My MSI Twin Frozr GTX 470 overclocks and is stable with a clock improve from 607Mhz (stock) up to 775Mhz. I also elevated memory clock to 1800Mhz. In all, my technique, when running an utterly ridiculous load of 6 threads of Prime 95, 4 Situations of Memtest, and MSI's Kombustor, draws 650Watts, completely stable! It is incredibly tough to locate an *oversize* cooling alternative for the CPU that allows you to fit oversize (tall) memory in all 6 DIMMs. I purchased the Zalman CNPS10x Performa, and with the fan it blocks one of the memory slots. Fortunately I only had to shave off about 3mm of plastic from the fan casing and it now fits with 6DIMM's. One more option would be one of Scythe's 12mm thick fans. Triple Channel Memory has established to be extremely rapid. Overclocks effectively with my I7 920. Haven't pushed the limits but since I had to order an adapter bracket for my Zalman 9700 cooler, but even on stock intel cooler it stays under 65C. Once I activated the XMP in the bios it registers my GSkill DDR3 1600 memory effectively, both frequency and timings...otherwise it registers 1066...extremely straightforward to do, just expect to have to do it. And you have to read the manual to get the raid controllers to function...far from intuitive, but they do perform if you set them up proper, so not really a con. This is a bit future proof also with USB 3, though I haven't purchased any USB three devices to try it but. The onboard LEDs are a bit of a mystery...the manual could be clearer. I will eventually figure them out. This is almost certainly not a beginner board. Until I loaded the W7 drivers off the included driver disk some of the characteristics didn't operate. I also flashed the bios to the most up-to-date making use of the @bios program...worked fine. The driver disk seems up do date...surprise! When the drivers were loaded, almost everything performs like a charm. I was even able to use my bootdrive that was set up for a different Gigabyte board (EP-45-UD3P), on which I had recently done a clean install of W7. It booted with the new board, processor and memory, but, like I mentioned, had to load the drivers from the disk.( BTW if you use Everest Ultimate, you need to download the newest beta version or it won't recognize this board.) I am pleased with this board...so far 4 gigabyte boards, 4 successes.
