GIGABYTE Radeon HD 5450 (Cedar) GV-R545OC-512I Video Card
Cons:Nothing special performance wise and not the greatest at keeping temperatures down but fine for most media & design applications
Pros:Good option for a cheap media player build, DirectX 11, HDMI/DVI/VGA ports allow for good flexibility layout-wise, quiet, Gigabyte makes reliable products, well-tested AMD chip Comment:
Not exactly going to win any gold medals but what do you want for 20 bucks? I had customers who paid just under $100 for a 5450 and haven't had any complaints. They are great cards for people who want to integrate DVI or HDMI or get better results from their digital video recordings. Also good for people wanting to do video conversion or CAD applications, etc. And all without breaking the bank on some $400 gaming card. I've sold probably between 50 to 60 of these since they came out and have only had to RMA one of them. Not bad. |

GIGABYTE Radeon HD 5450 (Cedar) GV-R545OC-512I Video Card
Cons:Not going to run anything fancy but if all you need is the basics it's a great buy
Pros:Good value for the pricelow profile bracket included Comment:
This is a decent low end video card, used to add graphics to an older machine for family, runs older games perfectly (i.e. Diablo 2), great for the basics. Will likely purchase again to put in a HTPC, good value for the $20. |

GIGABYTE Radeon HD 5450 (Cedar) GV-R545OC-512I Video Card
Comment:
Ok. So this card has been great when it is working fine. Working with it in my HTPC and really like that it supports TrueHD and DTS MA bitstreaming. Plays full HD videos (with DXVA enabled) smoothly and I feel that pic quality has noticable improved over my old HD 3870....Now for the cons... The significant concern that ATI is turning a blind eye to is these 5xxx series cards have major problems with "ATI powerplay". I was receiving audio dropouts though playing video without having DXVA enabled..like with 7MC and ffdshow. I spent numerous hours trying to fix this but lastly identified out this is a recognized concern on these cards and has to do with ATI PowerPlay automatically lowering/switching the clocks for no rhyme or reason causing these audio dropouts. Soon after disabling powerplay (ggogle), almost everything works like a charm....This is the second item I came across from ATI which has such a major concern ( the first was the infamous No DVI issue with particular monitors). In each cases, countless e-mails have been sent to them but they turn a blind eye.... Because, this is not an issue with Gigabyte, I would just deduct 1 egg... |

GIGABYTE Radeon HD 5450 (Cedar) GV-R545OC-512I Video Card
Cons:
Not Powerful for Hardcore Gaming
Pros: CheapQuiet Comment:
If you consider an upgrade from integrated graphics, this video card is the one. It can even CrossFire with the mobo's graphics if you have the right chipset. I have tried this and the performance is quite good. Certainly this setup cannot compare with HD57xx/56xx series but this C/F does give something extra to the system. |

GIGABYTE Radeon HD 5450 (Cedar) GV-R545OC-512I Video Card
Cons:
Not for you gamers out there
Pros: CheapDTS-MA/TrueHD bitstreaming and 8CH PCM Over HDMI supportQuality brandComes with low profile bracket Comment:
This is the perfect card for HT/HTPC enthusiasts. The cheapest route to get DTS-MA/TrueHD to bitstream and 8CH PCM to your AVReceiver. Followed this guide: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=152520 and everything works perfectly. If you've played around with filters, decoders etc., this should be fairly easy to do.Highly recommended for a budget HTPC video card that can even do some light gaming. |
I believe a card like this can add a year or two to a PC used by the family. Flash games and the like will lag you a little bit later. 20$ with mail-in rebate is totally worth it.
