Genius - G-Note 7100 - Digital Note And Tablet With Two Cordless Pens
|
Nice package deal overall, especially with the pad able to double as a tablet. Using it with the included software is a breeze, though the proprietary format is a pain and the software hasn't been updated since Windows 2000. It includes a 30-day trial of a handwriting recognition package (OCR) that doesn’t seem to be able to adapt to my handwriting. So, unless you have highly legible handwriting to begin with, forget any OCR conversion to editable text. One would also expect that a full version of a trainable OCR package be included. Without such, the utility of this pad is highly limited. Pens are cheaply made and the plastic cracks easily, and do not take standard pen refills - a big minus (though it includes 2 black and 1 red). Also, no drawing stylus is included so you have to be drawing on paper to use the pad as a drawing tablet with your PC – another big minus. On the positive side, if you just need to archive copies of notes as PDFs, this is a great tool to do so.
