First build I have done with a Gigabyte motherboard. No problems at all. Great list of features for a board in this price range, especially the USB3, SATA3 and AM3+.

Cons:-Price

Great board; I would however avoid it at this price range, as it has been at the 80 dollar mark before without a rebate.

Got this as a bundle deal with a processor, it was a great deal and it works very well. ATX motherboard fit properly in my case and the USB 3.0 ports are a very nice touch.

Gigabyte 970A-D3 AMD970 ATX AM3+ DDR3 2PCI-E16 3PCI-E1 2PCI RAID SATA3 USB3.0 Motherboard
Cons:Several minor issues

Pros:Cheap, supports all AM3 and AM3+ processors
Comment:
I am having several issues with this board:1. I bought DDR3 1600 mhz ram for this and when installed the bios clocked it at 1066mhz. The only way I could fix this is by overclocking the ram.2. Will not boot when all devices are in AHCI mode. Installing the driver made no difference. This issue forced me to reinstall Windows 3 times. 3. BSOD - only happened once so far. The error was for hardware or driver malfunction, and I have installed all up to date drivers. I would not buy this board again.

Gigabyte 970A-D3 AMD970 ATX AM3+ DDR3 2PCI-E16 3PCI-E1 2PCI RAID SATA3 USB3.0 Motherboard
Cons:Wouldn't boot after restarting it. It would try to update  my backup BIOS for some reason then would reboot and continue the process. I could sometimes get it to boot to the OS, but only for 15min, then it would auto shutdown. Not sure if I caused this or the mobo, so 3 stars it is. Sent it to NCIX, waiting for them to tell me what happened.

Pros:Worked well, good bios for the time being.
Comment:
Good mobo, until it wouldn't boot.

Gigabyte 970A-D3 AMD970 ATX AM3+ DDR3 2PCI-E16 3PCI-E1 2PCI RAID SATA3 USB3.0 Motherboard
Cons:CPU Power could be less near the top corner of the board, Northbridge heatsink attachment concerns, narrower than most ATX boards, AHCPI/BIOS speed issue (expanded upon), no firewire

Pros:Works well, very full featured BIOS, clear board layout
Comment:
First and foremost there's a really weird issue with this board. If you enable AHCI after the initial POST screen you see a list of detected drives. The problem is this list often comes up before your USB controller initializes and you miss your chance to "Press DEL to enter setup" unless you have a PS/2 keyboard. Immensely frustrating.Another concern is I'm not sure how well attached the North Bridge heatsink is. It seems to have a bit of lift. I haven't had any problems, but it's nervewracking.Beyond those concerns, this is an affordable, very competent board, its narrow which means it might miss a few standoffs, but still stable, and it means you have more room to work around it in your case. Annoyingly, the CPU Power input is in the top left corner, which is quite a stretch for bottom mounted PSUs like I have, and I'd imagine just an awkward angle for top mounted ones. The overclocking features in bios are diverse, everything is available for you to tweak, and with their tuning solution you can change your HT clock (wrongly named FSB) from Windows. You also apparently can change voltage but it misreported my initial vcore so I didn't want to risk tweaking something that was either potentially polling wrong or changing a different voltage than I had anticipated.I know I come off a bit negative, but it's a working functional motherboard. All the ports work, you get what you see, I just thought I'd be remiss if I didn't address some potential shortcomings that aren't immediately obvious. This is my first Gigabyte board, after spending 11 years with ASUS boards, and I'm glad to see that there is no obvious cut-down on quality outside of the heatsink weirdness

Gigabyte 970A-D3 AMD970 ATX AM3+ DDR3 2PCI-E16 3PCI-E1 2PCI RAID SATA3 USB3.0 Motherboard
Cons:None

Pros:High quality board, especially for the price.
Comment:
I was looking for a quality replacement AM3 motherboard, and this one sure meets my expectations. Having USB3 and SATA3, as well as being a bit futureproof (AM3+)are what I was looking for. Currently I have an Athlon II X4 640 3GHz installed, with 16GB RAM and a Radeon 4650, and the system rocks for everything I need it to do.

Gigabyte 970A-D3 AMD970 ATX AM3+ DDR3 2PCI-E16 3PCI-E1 2PCI RAID SATA3 USB3.0 Motherboard
Cons:None

Pros:Cheap and still have good build quality. As always with Gigabyte, no problems at all.
Comment:
I bought this new motherboard for under $100 and it's been awesome to me so far. Lots of USB ports and all, if you doesn't want to Crossfire or SLI, that's an awesome board for the price. Got my Phenom II X4 955 at 3.8GHz with no voltage adjustment and stock heatsink to be rock stable at that speed.
