Cons:No on-board video
Pros:DurableEasy setupGood layout Comment:
I bought this for a non-budget build with an 8-core processor for an office environment. Unit is super fast. No probs at all. Make sure you order a video card too, as there isn't one on-board. |

Gigabyte 970A-D3P AMD970 ATX AM3+ DDR 2PCI-E16 3PCI-E1 2PCI RAID SATA3 USB3.0 CrossFireX Motherboard
Cons:No USB3 under linuxIOMMU is buggy under linuxOnly boots from single-partition USB devices.Looks like it provides 2 PCI-E x16 slots, one is actually x8
Pros:Decent basic windows-only motherboard. Comment:
This board is probably adequate for most low-end builds. There are some issues though. This board will boot from USB as long as your USB media has exactly one partition. Any more than that and it will flat out refuse to boot. This motherboard has 2 PCI-E x16 - sized slots, but only one of them is actually x16. The other one is x8. You can plug two x16 cards into this motherboard, but one will run at half speed. Buyer beware. If you are running Linux, as of kernel 3.11 you MUST enable the IOMMU in the BIOS settings (it's disabled by default) AND pass the kernel parameter "iommu=pt" or "iommu=soft". If you don't do this you will get constant page faults from AMD-VI and your wired ethernet port will not work.Additionally, Linux doesn't like this board's XHCI controller, so don't expect USB3 to work if you're using Linux.I bought this board as a cheapo for Litecoin mining under Linux and it's been nothing but trouble. Would not buy again. If you are building a simple Windows machine you will probably be happy with it. |

Gigabyte 970A-D3P AMD970 ATX AM3+ DDR 2PCI-E16 3PCI-E1 2PCI RAID SATA3 USB3.0 CrossFireX Motherboard
Cons:only cons would be the limitations of the 970 chipset (second pci-e limited to 4x,
Pros:low price, usb3, sata3, good looking black pcb, 3x usb power, Comment:
Great board for the masses. Has everything you need, and nothing you don't. If you do need dual 16x pci-e, you shouldn't need this board or any CPU that works with it. USB3, SATA3, 3x usb power, AM3, DDR3, and a 3 year warranty. that's alot of 3's. |
Good for decent builds. Has everything you need.
