Cons:For some reason the video card cooler cover don't feel very solid and this card is big, not just larger but thicker than the the reference design. So thick that it's touching my Intel PCI-E lan adapter
Pros:Running really cooler and quieter by at least 20deg.C compare to ATI reference design Comment:
Bought it as replacement while waiting for my Gigabyte reference HD 6970 to come back from RMA, so this why i was able to do direct comparison between the reference card and the HIS.Being larger is not a problem with my Fractal Define R3 case but the thickness is kind of annoying, i don't like having component touching each other. And there is no back plate to keep the board straight and no dual bios.Other than that the design is effective form heat and noise stand point. Having super special price as the one i just had help to justify the little design flaw........ |
It's not like anyone is ever going to see the card inside your case but it sure is ugly.I got the card when it's on sale for 300 and then another $20 MIR that came in pretty fast. At that price, it's very good bang for your bucks.
