Inexpensive I got 5 hours of use before the drive died. Attempted it with the "Y" cable and on unique computers and in no way worked once again. |

Must function, Email Tech assistance is a joke, If anybody desires a very good laugh I will post the replies to my Emails from Hitachi "customer Service". Do not anticipate to use this as a "Mobile Drive" HITACHI Here is a list of my concerns 1. Your product package states No power cable needed. (my principal cause for purchasing) 2. Your item clearly has a power supply terminal built into the unit. 3. Your product is packaged with no directions. four. Your product has had various complaints about the same issue. five. Immediately after researching your item many consumers have resolved the issue with a power supply that your business did not supply and clearly ought to have. This is not a mobile tough drive, this is an external hard drive with out a power supply. You are not able to transport data from 1 laptop to one more. I will not purchase yet another Hitachi Item following this lack luster customer service and mislabeled product encounter. |

low cost, really cheap (i got from Dell for 50 bucks with free shipping) it demands two USB ports for power, yet disappears from time to time. it can\'t be for everyday use. i wish the disk itself is dependable, then i can use to backup my data. |

little form factor, cables included, plug and play, sleek appear none but I've had the 320 GB version and now the 500 GB version. Pleased with the product so far for each and I use each fairly a bit. |

Enclosure is well created\designed with good quality supplies. QC is definitely lacking on this product. Out of the 3 I ordered; one was absolutely DOA, 1 had severe performance troubles, and one worked as intended. Now I have to do deal with manufacturer's warranty as I am past my 30 days. :( |

HITACHI X Mobile 500GB 2.5" Black External Hard Drive
Cons:
doesn't get enough juicevery slow speed
Pros: small and portabledoesn't require power adapter Comment:
(I'm only giving 3 stars because NCIX won't let me rate 1 star without an order ID, and there's no order ID to be found on my in store purchase receipt)This thing would be wonderful, if it worked...It comes with Y split USB cable which requires the drive to be plugged into 2 USB ports to get enough power.unfortunately, you can't plug this into the USB plugs on the front of your PC, or use a hub. you have to plug this into the ports on the back of the PC or it won't draw enough juice to run.and even at full power, the drive's Write speed is at maximum 10MB/s (I can torrent faster than this)in short, stay away at all cost and get something with a power adapter and better write speed. |

HITACHI X Mobile 500GB 2.5" Black External Hard Drive
Cons:
Slooooooow!
Pros: Cheap on sale Comment:
I tried it under XP and Windows 7 - the write rate was only about 5 Megabytes/sec. on large files. I took the unit apart and put the drive into a Thermaltake external caddy and got 30 Megabytes/second.Something very bad about the USB controller used with the drive. |

HITACHI X Mobile 500GB 2.5" Black External Hard Drive
Cons:
NONE
Pros: Near Silent, but not as "dead" silent as a flash drive or a solid state disk Comment:
Incredible, one of the BEST hard drives of it's competition/category, If you price-match it, then it's the best deal around! |
Terrific value for a 500GB 鸑GB after NTFS format) portable HDD.Tiny, light-weight & quiet, but rapid at the exact same time.USB-Powered, with an extra power-to-USB port for additional power. With specific coupon code, no tax, & free of charge-shipping, this child came in at 50 bucks. The design is nice. By arching/curving the bottom, additional surface region is exposed for a much better cooling impact. Much less heat is always preferred for tough drives & electronics, in common. The two massive LED lights at the bottom are not genuinely crucial.A white-colored case for this drive would do a greater job of dissipating heat than black, but black is much better at "hiding" it when you don't want it to be noticed.Could this be the reason as to why this external HDD requires much more power? The clicking that is becoming reported by so quite a few users is not a issue with this portable drive. It is a difficulty with either your Computer or laptop. The USB port of your Pc or laptop is not providing enough power to the drive. When this occurs, you get the clicking. This happens all the time with older and more affordable-created systems.Blame your technique, not this drive. As I had stated earlier, this drive is rapidly, but rapidly demands much more power, and older systems have issues with supplying enough juice to run this generally.
