Comment:
I got this printer on sale at Wal-Mart for $45, couldn't believe it as even HP website sells this printer for $100. The ink will run you about $20 for black and $30 for colored. Very nice printer. Please note that this printer does not do faxing. I don't know why NCIX put fax in the heading.I had 2 issues with this printer during setup, one was the fact that it supports XP 32-bit but not 64-bit. I have a XP 64-bit system and I have had HP printers before that said they don't support 64-bit but you find the drives on there website. I don't know if they plan on making them later or not but no big deal as I have a virtual system on my 64-bit one with 32-bit for this reason. However you will need a computer with Mac, Vista, Windows 7, or XP 32-bit OS and a USB port or you wont be able to setup the wireless as you must connect by USB and input your settings. The 2nd problem I had was wireless setup. It's pretty friendly but could be more. Congrats to HP for thinking ahead but they need to understand that WPA is nice and all but not in use as much as it should be yet. I have to use WEP as some of the devices on my network don't support WPA. But this printer was really made for a WPA network. It can support WEP but your authentication must be set to Open System. And if your like me, you also set up your network to allow only your own MAC addresses to connect. Well bad news, the MAC address is not wrote anywhere. Good news, you can get the MAC address by printing a network setup report. Now them problems are not big ones and installing only takes a min. It network range is good. It does work for the iPhone using HP iPrint app but does not use the real I phone print open so you can't print a webpage from your iPhone. Every computer seems to connect just fine to it. And a bit slow but print detail comes out very nice. The paper feed is great, it not to open so the paper has to feed right. So less jams.Real question is, is it worth $100 ?, I going to tell you right now, it not worth $100. I would pay $60 - $65 tops for it. If it had a fax option then I would pay $100 for it as it be one cheap fax system with good ink at a low cost.
