HP Pavilion dv6-3090ca 15.6" Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit NoteBook
Cons:
fan noise, finnicky RJ45 connector
Pros: Speed, fingerprint reader, BIOS-level picture viewer, web browser, etc. |
Overall I've been quite pleased with the performance and features of this notebook. Initial startup surprised me with the (effectively) BIOS-level apps for picture viewing, web browsing, etc. Great feature for quickly showing something off without completely launching Windows. When the system is under load (i.e. 3D rendering, video work, etc) the fan can be somewhat loud, but usually the system is not particularly bad.I have some misgivings about the feel/build of the PC, as USB connectors are very tight, and it can be difficult getting RJ45 network cables disconnected. The DVD drive also feels somewhat flimsy.Function keys by default do their 'secondary' functions, which is to say, your wireless on/off, volume up/down, etc all simply work, without pressing an Fn key. For the 95% of the time most of us use function keys, this is great.
