Hauppauge WinTV-Nova-S-Plus Video Device 790
Cons:some pixelation at times

Pros:Works well, no major hiccups
Comment:
Bought this to turn the stack of old home movies into DVDs and to record the odd hockey game. It does the job though it would be nice if the output wasn't limited to mpeg. Overall, not bad for the price but could be better.

Hauppauge WinTV-Nova-S-Plus Video Device 790
Cons:-The Sat connector position can make the card hard to fit in some computer cases-Not compatible with the new mpeg4 high definition streams

Pros:+Great picture+Got video and sound input+Compatible with Disq switch+Come with remote control
Comment:
Very good DVB-S card, just finished my setup, hooked it on my satellite dish for testing, the picture is really good with the good codecs. The card is compatible with Disq switch, to be able to receive signal from more them 1 Lnb at a time and the remote control is of really good quality. There's even a video and audio input on the card to let you connect a camera, an old VCR, a cable box ... On of the best dvb-s card on the market.

Hauppauge WinTV-Nova-S-Plus Video Device 790
Cons:No on-board MPEG decoder for low-powered machines

Pros:Easy setup, reliable tuning
Comment:
I purchased this board to pick up FTA satellite, and it's working flawlessly. I use in linux with mythtv, so can't comment on the included software. However, drivers are included in recent linux kernels (2.6.18 here), and it works out of the box. If you know what you're doing with satellite reception, pick this up for sure! The only negative that I've listed is that this is a so-called "budget" card, which doesn't include an onboard MPEG decoder. As such, (very) low-powered machines might have trouble playing back recorded video. If you really need one of the 'full-featured' cards, have a look at the Hauppauge Nexus-S.
