Highpoint ROCKETRAID3320 8 Channel SATA Hardware RAID 6 Controller PCI-E8 0/1/5/6/10/50/JBOD
Cons:Only 1 and I can't really be sure this card even has the issue, but other rocketraid cards are known to destroy the firmware on Western Digital hard drives if you use the staggered spinup option.
Pros:True Hardware acceleration. Does not conflict with my internal raid option ROM. Super-Fast. Allows changing bios settings from within the bios configuration screen itself, and not at bios flash time like with other rocketraid cards. |
I must say, I am really impressed with this card, I purchased it thinking that it might give me the same issues as the rocketraid 2302 i purchased before which disabled my onboard raid option rom, but i was really happy when it functioned perfectly with all my hardware. Currently i'm using my 6 onboard satas for my 2 raptors in raid 0 as my system drive (getting around 135MB/s with them, with 8ms access time) and my dvd burner + esata port on my case. With this card I'm using 4 750gb WDs in raid 5, and just to show you how insane this card performs, and that it is truely a hardware solution, i get around 275MB/s read and 300MB/s write with a 13ms access time. The only negative thing is the staggered spinup in-compatibilities, for this reason I would highly recommend disabling that feature before attaching any hard drives to the card.
