Hitachi 0S03230 Deskstar 5K3000 3TB 5400RPM SATA 6Gbps 32MB 3.5IN Hard Drive
Cons:N/A
Pros:Works fine... Comment:
I did a little research and found this was a slightly upgraded model over the BEST model, not anything crazy but it was only a couple $$$ difference. If you need a great all around drive for great price this is a good one. |

Hitachi 0S03230 Deskstar 5K3000 3TB 5400RPM SATA 6Gbps 32MB 3.5IN Hard Drive
Cons:Spindle noise is louder than WD Green Power Drives
Pros:Very quiet seek noise, seems fast for a 5400 RPM drive, great price on special Comment:
I bought this drive mainly because it was the cheapest 3TB option NCIX had. So far I'm happy with the drive.I copied nearly 3TB over a 12 hour period or so, and compared to other drives, I'm very pleased with the performance I've seen, although I haven't done any benchmarks. I believe this compares favorably with the 1.5TB WD Green Power drives I've used.Unfortunately, this drive has a somewhat audible (although not wholly unpleasant) spindle noise. The Green Power drives definitely are superior in this regard. The seek noise, however, is almost inaudible over the spindle noise, so the drive won't become irritating through normal use for quiet-computing nuts. |

Hitachi 0S03230 Deskstar 5K3000 3TB 5400RPM SATA 6Gbps 32MB 3.5IN Hard Drive
Cons:
not full 3TB after format
Pros: speed ease of install Comment:
o i bought this drive just for the size and the price its defenetly worth the price like i have heard that for a 5400 rpm drive it was fast and it is the only drawback i find is for all 3 tb drive you need a newer os to use but that was not a problem for me |

Hitachi 0S03230 Deskstar 5K3000 3TB 5400RPM SATA 6Gbps 32MB 3.5IN Hard Drive
Cons:
-Only 32MB cache
Pros: -1.87TB for well under $100-5940RPM, SATA3 -667GB platters x 3 Comment:
Bought this drive to complete a system for my sister who purchased all the parts. So far it seems to be a fast and solid drive thanks to the higher density platters. It is even noticably faster than my 1TB WD Black FALS drive. Here's a tip...Regardless of what they say, always install hard drives horizontally, never vertically if you want it to last long. My only grip is it has only 32MB of cache. My old 30GB IBM GXP has 32Mb of cache and it's like 10 years old. This drive should have 2GB of cache at a 1000:1 ratio not 32 Megabytes! At a minimum, it should have 512 Megabytes. |

Hitachi 0S03230 Deskstar 5K3000 3TB 5400RPM SATA 6Gbps 32MB 3.5IN Hard Drive
Cons:
None.
Pros: Low cost.Large capacity. Comment:
I purchased 2x Hitachi 5K3000 3TB and 2x Hitachi 5K3000 2TB hard drives when they were on sale. 10TB for less than $400 before tax and shipping. So far I'm very impressed by how they perform. They are cool, quiet very fast. I run Windows 7 64bit and had no problems with it recognizing the full size of the 3TB drives. |
Like most low RPM models (this one is 5940 RPM) it's power consumption and noise output is excellent. If also find it to be faster than the WD Green and Samsung F4 drives that I own. If you're on a budget and need an O/S drive and lots of capacity, this is the one to get. WARNING: REBATE IS A SCAM
