I'm very pleased with the fact that I don't need a separate power source to use it, and the transfer speeds that I've observed so far are satisfactory.

I created a second small FAT32 partion on it and I can use it with my PS3. The advantage of charging via USB is that you can keep your hard drive connected and it will turn off when you power off your device (PC, PS3..).
