Cons:only thing I can think of it that it sticks out over a inch from the motherboard and might be a problem in cases that lack room in that area
Pros:it works as expected allows you to be able to use drives that are bigger and cheaper (sata) |

It didn't work

I wanted to use this product to connect an IDE internal ZIP drive to a new computper that has SATA connectors only. It did not work. The power connection was flimsy, too. |

Wrong Application

I was trying to hook up an older data filled IDE drive to a SATA port on my new computer but this isn't the product for that app. StarTech does make another product for that app. |

Almost Past all Testing

This adapter performed as expected on 4 out of 5 Kontron Single Board Computers(SBC). It failed to work properly on a Kontron PCI951 SBC. |
I'm surprised how well this works ... just plug it in and it works .. even with todays drives (sata3) I just installed a 1tb seagate 7200.12 and it detected right away ... I cloned the old drive to it and it now boots the system with no issues. I'll be buying more of these ... old computers just got a extra bit of life
