IOGEAR GBU421 Bluetooth Micro Adapter
Comment:
Extremely modest, unobtrusive. Fantastic price. Could not get it to work in Windows 7 64-bit, even with downloaded 64-bit drivers from their internet site. Could not get it to recognize either a Dell or a Microsoft bluetooth mouse, even even though each function on other, 32-bit systems. I was really hoping this would be the one to perform in Win 7 64-bit. I'll attempt calling their tech-help when I get the time, and I'll update this overview if they can get it working for me.

Little size Do not obtain this adapter if you strategy to use it with stereo headphones. I purchased this adapter to use with my Motorola S9-HD headset. The headset works fantastic with other bluetooth devices. With this adapter the sound is badly distorted and there is lots of static noise as properly. I downloaded the most recent driver and no improvement. Absolutely useless. This is going back ASAP. In common I've been quite happy with IOGear devices, but not in this case. The driver set up is extremely slow, each from the integrated driver CD and the downloaded version. Manufacturer Response:Thank you for picking IOGEAR and we apologize for your poor expertise. The unit you received was probably defected. Given that this item is backed by IOGEAR's 3 year warranty, please really feel free of charge to make contact with our buyer help at 1-866-946-4327 or e-mail us: support@iogear.com. We will be glad to assist you and method an RMA for you. After once more, thank you for choosing IOGEAR.

It works;Easy to install;Modest. Installer is slow to open. I purchased this thing primarily for my Palm Treo which is not supported with USB below Vista 64bit. Also the USB somehow no longer works with my Win XP. Now with this little device, I can sync my PDA with Palm Desktop. Also can connect my new Blackberry Storm. I do not use this so much since the USB cable works just fine.My first BT adaptor. Still requirements to explore what BT can do.

Straightforward installation of the device. Operates wonderful on both Vista and XP. Excelent connection with minimal static on a headset when walls are in the way. Extremely compact and good when needed on the laptop. IO Gear has giving a excellent top quality here. Vista had a challenge with the driver to the BT2. Audio gateway, but a rapid uninstall and reinstall of the device appears to have permanently resolved this concern. Paired with a plantronics BT2. headset this thing is the fantastic Voice Com for gamers on TS or Vent. The devices have innate capabilities for GoogleTalk, MSN Voice, and Skype as effectively. More than all this was straightforward to setup and I'm positive will come in handy for a lot of other devices in the future for me. I would reccommend this to any person seeking for a low costing BT2. answer.

very good companion for netbook, only leave a little bulge, you can just forget it once it's plugged, incredibly low power consumption range is OK as class 2, software package (widcomm) has difficulty handling a2dp and other connections the widcomm/broadcom computer software has dilemma when handling several connections along with a2dp, I attempted to surf when a2dp is active, the online connection over bluetooth is really slow, and typically finding disconnected, and I am confident it's software program challenge (used it on IVT stack, I can use it because I bought a license, and I don't have similar dilemma like with widcomm)

Tiny size fitting my laptop properly. It does not work with my Samsung Headset WEP 870 even although my Samsung works effectively with my other bluetooth devices. I very first applied the CD inside the package and it did NOT work. I then went to IOGEAR's site to download the drive compatible with Window 7, but it still did NOT perform. The Adapter could NOT even find out my SAMSUNG headset. What a waste of time and money!!! Wish the IOGEAR could have tested the product just before putting it on the market place. Manufacturer Response:Thank you for choosing IOGEAR. When you install the driver, make sure you don't plug in the adapter very first. Otherwise Windows 7 might start out to install the driver itself and will conflict with the driver we give. You might attempt to uninstall the driver and re-set up the most up-to-date driver from our internet site. If this nevertheless doesn't work, the unit you received is likely defected. Given that this product is backed by IOGEAR's 3 year warranty, please really feel free to contact our buyer assistance at 1-866-946-4327 or e mail us: support@iogear.com. We will be glad to assist you and course of action an RMA for you. As soon as once more, thank you for picking IOGEAR.

None, it doesn't work Doesn't function on Windows 7 64 bit. It will not find devices in discovery mode. Immediately after using Windows 7 64 bit driver and that not acquiring devices, I uninstalled that and installed the a single from their web site and had the identical final results. Speak to Iogear. They said have to be defective, RMA it. Received the replacement and had the similar matters. Spoke to them once again, they could offer you no aid other than, re-install drivers, restart the pc, try on a diverse laptop or computer, and so forth. In other words, they were useless for identifying, and acknowledging an challenge with this OS. Manufacturer Response:Thank you for deciding upon IOGEAR and we apologize for your experience. Plug and Play! Worked with Windows 7 64 bit! Plugged in and Windows downloaded the necessary drivers! Small sufficient to leave plugged in all the time! Nearby retailer didn't carry, so had to order from Newegg (I wanted it final weekend to sync my palm treo) and would have paid far more to have it on Saturday. Very suggested for any person wanting to sync their palm with Windows 7 64 bit, as the USB sync does NOT perform...Have to use Bluetooth, and this device delivers it.

Connects to both Cellular and Other devices. Swift install with low resource specifications. New (inexperienced) users should read the manual and see the website for far more facts as this is not your standard installer. Operates on Samsung A797 Cellphone and Nokia BH-503 Stereo Headset.

-Works out of the box under newest versions of Ubuntu-Modest form factor-Decent range-Good quality really feel-Great blue LED status light -Poor software program installation procedure (The first time I installed it, it had problems with WIDCOMM licensing)-Includes the WIDCOMM stack, which is possibly the most frustratingly annoying stack accessible -It complains when your device is set to non-discoverable, when that is a generally fantastic security practice. -It switches the audio device automatically when making use of a BT headset, and also manages to switch it back to the incorrect output soon after you unpair/turn off the headset. -Creates one particular of these My Bluetooth Places icons on your desktop that you need to use a registry hack to get rid of. The device itself isn't undesirable. It's unfortunate that it uses the WIDCOMM stack as I've had absolutely nothing but difficulty with it. I'm using the constructed-in Windows stack following significantly looking, and it seems to work a bit greater for me.

It's a great thought. It just doesn't perform with very first generation iMac G5s. I tried this device with two equivalent iMac G5s operating Tiger ྪ.4.11). It didn't function with either a single, and the issues were identical. Iogear tech help says they've by no means seen this dilemma just before, which is tricky to think due to the fact both of the iMacs had identical troubles. I set up my Apple Wireless Keyboard using Bluetooth and it worked... till restart. The device impacts startup in that the icons in the upper ideal corner of the screen (time/date, speaker, AirPort, and Bluetooth...hmmmm) don't show up, and the Bluetooth device, the wireless keyboard, no longer works. If I pull the Iogear device, the startup completes quickly with all icons, and I can set up the wireless keyboard if I go through the complete setup method once again. I tried this device on two unique iMac G5s a number of times, with the identical result every single time. If you have an older iMac G5, don't purchase this product. If you have newer iMac, you don't require it since Bluetooth is already built-in.

Operates Fine with XP and Vista with no intervention Works with Linux but you do have to do some tweaking. This little device is compact and quite quick. I have seen many complaints on Newegg, as nicely as the net, about this device not working with linux. Apparently the Bluetooth devices are not showing up in the "pairing wizard". Devoid of acquiring into too a lot detail, adhere to these uncomplicated steps to get the device operating in a linux surroundings. I have tried this on Fedora Core 11, Ubuntu 8.04, and Linux Mint 71). Make sure that the Device is plugged into a USB port, the Bluetooth icon seems in the toolbar and that the Bluetooth Wizard is closed.two). Open up a linux "terminal" and enter the following: "sudo hciconfig hci0 reset" <without the quotes> <enter your linux password if promptedɯ). Restart the Bluetooth service by entering: "sudo service bluetooth restartŘ). Close out the terminal window by entering "exitř). Click on the Bluetooth Icon and start the "new device" wizard. Your device really should now appear for you to setup pairing.
