Easy To Use
Comment:
I purchased this scanner for my wife who runs an ancillary medical business. She uses it to scan insurance cards and she really likes it. To make her happy a product must be easy to use and deliver quality results. This product does both. Scan quality is excellent. The scanning software runs off a one touch button on the scanner, which makes it very easy to use. She's not using the character recognition software, so I can't comment on that. I can tell you that the software will output jpeg and pdf files. Setup was a little complicated (watch out, there are both Mac and PC directions), but if you read through the book and play with the unit for an hour you will get a very good understanding of it's capabilities. For the money this is a good value, if it was $50.00 less expensive I would call it a great value. |

IRISCan Executive 2 Portable Scanner - 600 DPI, USB
Comment:
I was shopping for a good OCR software and am better off purchasing the whole deal here at Tiger. The scanner actually comes with full version 11 of Iris + the business cards + other stuffs I probably will not need as much! |
After trying several portable scanners, this one seems to be about average. The software works well, except for the fact that character recognition needs improvement, the included business card application has a hard time reading cards that are not a white background. For the scanning process, the rollers do not smoothly grab small width paper and often skew, so inputting receipts takes a little bit longer than with other scanners. The auto crop feature usually cuts off too much of the edge of images, and there is no manual workaround, other scanners have a much better interface for selecting the scanned image. Another issue is that the scanning interface will not do a continuous scan to an image, so this scanner will not work for longer than usual documents. For portability, it works well, is light and easy to carry. Overall the scanner is usable but not ideal.
