Intel 320 Series SSDSA2BW160G301 2.5" MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)
Cons:Strange Windows 7 performance index subscoreNot the absolute fastest on the market
Pros:FastExpect high reliability Comment:
Startup time for my new build is 40 seconds, 10 seconds faster than my previous build which had Asus X58 plus i7 930 and Intel X-25M SSD as system drive. Strangely the Windows performance index subscore for the 320 SSD is only 5.7, whereas the index is 7.6 for the earlier generation X-25M. Intel support stated this was a Microsoft "problem", poor evaluation subroutine. I tend to believe this explanation as new system is certainly snappier than old machine. And there is NO WAY I would buy a Vertex 3 or Crucial M4. I cannot tolerate blue and black screens of death. I want reliability and was prepared to sacrifice a bit of speed.New build: ASUS P8Z68-V Pro, i7 2600k, Noctua U12P-SE2 CPU cooler, 8 GB Corsair Vengeance CL8 DDR3 1600, Intel 320 SSD 160 GB system, 2 x 1 TB WD Blue HDDs in Raid 1 Data, Creative Sound blaster X-Fi titanium, 2 x Noctua NF-P12 120mm front case fans, Enermax Modu87+ 800W PSU, Antec Solo II case, XFX HD6950 2 GB. |
I one have one SSD like this in my laptop. I have it since more then a year now and it's still really fast. I have recently moved it a newer computer and it's even faster. Intel do really good SSD if you can afford them. I would recommend the samsung 840 pro if I was to buy today, but Intel is still one of the leader in that market.
