Intel 510 Series 240GB Solid State Drive SSD 2.5IN SATA 6GB/S Elm Crest
Cons:-Not the fastest SSD-Requires SATA 3 ready MoBo for maximum performance (not a con, just a heads up)-Expensive $/gb ratio compared to other offerings, especially when you consider that it is not using Intel's own controller -To perform a secure erase through Intel Tool Box requires a second computer running in IDE mode, otherwise the drive will stay locked up if you use AHCI mode even after power-cycling the drive... an extra hoop one has to jump through if one wants to stay safe by using Intel's own secure erase function rather than a third party software
Pros:-Fast enough for the average person, and of course, stable; can fully utilize SATA 2 speed-Intel SSD Quality: lowest in the industry-Have yet to found any reports of these drives bricking or having any serious issues Comment:
An expensive SSD but probably the most reliable drive out there at this moment. But if you're not willing to spend this much, a much lower priced Sandforce offering may do a much better if you are lucky enough to not run into any problems. |
