Intel 530 Series 240GB SATA SSD MLC 2.5in 7.0MM OEM Packaging MM#928139
Cons:Firmware Issues
Pros:Intel QualityFast Speed Comment:
I am a software developer in the 3D and video game industry.I rely on my computers and workstations for my living. This is why I purchase Intel SSDs almost exclusively. This 240GB Intel 530 SSD was purchased for the OS drive in one of my software development systems to replace a WD Velociraptor (which is still working fine). The upgrade to the SSD was simply to further improve startup, app launch, and VS2013 build times. The abbreviated version of the system hardware is: Intel i7, ASUS Sabertooth MB, Mushkin Redline DDR3, ASUS R9 video, Seasonic Gold PS, Dell U2913WM monitor, Windows 7 x64, etc.The system software is only the Windows OS, VS2013, and VMware Player+.The installation was a full clean reinstall since the system only runs a limited software set, so setup time is not too long. This is not a low end computer by any means, but this SSD was a headache from the start unlike every other (but different models) Intel SSDs I have installed in my other computers.Continual BSODs with this model.I flashed the SSD to the latest firmware from Intel, and it started to behave a bit better, with BSODs becoming more rare. Two BSODs occurred in the middle of the installations, forcing me to scrap and reinstall the OS and drivers three times.I still had to turn off all Windows power management features to get the SSD to stop being so finicky. The system has been running without incident now for about 1.5 months, but it did shake my confidence with Intel somewhat, and I still do not feel 100% confident with this SSD.I will still continue to purchase Intel SSDs, but I will more rigorously check their forums first to see what issues others are having with specific models.-1 for the firmware issues and forcing me to reinstall multiple times. |

Intel 530 Series 240GB SATA SSD MLC 2.5in 7.0MM OEM Packaging MM#928139
Cons:Still pricey when not on sale
Pros:Fast, Good warranty, Reliable. Comment:
Very fast compared to conventional HDDs. Absolutely problem free thus far. Love the 5 year warranty. Bought this specifically to cut down load times for BF4. They have gone from aprox. 1.5 minutes to 20 - 30 seconds on an i7 with 8gib of memory and GTX760-DC2. |

Intel 530 Series 240GB SATA SSD MLC 2.5in 7.0MM OEM Packaging MM#928139
Cons:none so far
Pros:speed, quiet , deal price , mounting hw included Comment:
So far so good with my drive. Used Clonezilla to migrate my Win7 / Linux dual boot spinning drive over and all went smoothly. Boot time/ resume from sleep time is very snappy. I mainly use Linux and have 16GB of RAM so no need for swap which is not recommended to be placed on SSD. Had a few other tweaks to do for SSD but all in all quite happy. Can't compare it to any other drives as this is my first SSD but chose this after reading a fair amount of reviews and knowing how I use my system |

Pros:More responsive system, if you are upgrading from hard drive. Comment:

Intel 530 Series 240GB SATA SSD MLC 2.5in 7.0MM OEM Packaging MM#928139
Cons:Not cheapest price per capacity SSD
Pros:Fast, Decent capacity and solid brand Comment:
Intel makes at it's worst above average drives. The 530 series definitely appears to be above average in terms of performance and reliability. The sale price of 180 was pretty good when I got it, only overshadowed by the recent black friday sale price of 160$.Good drive, would not hesitate to get another one when I need it as long as the price remains reasonably competitive. |

Intel 530 Series 240GB SATA SSD MLC 2.5in 7.0MM OEM Packaging MM#928139
Cons:-Sandforce controller.......but they don't seem to have issues these days. Still a bit surprised to see it though.
Pros:+Very fast+5 Year Warranty+Reliable+Free cloning software +Free SSD toolbox program+2.5-3.5" adapter included Comment:
Excellent price of $179. Fast, and 5 year Intel warranty. I can perceive no speed differences between this, a Plextor M5 Pro and a Corsair Neutron GTX. |
Go for this if you are paranoid about the drive's reliability and durability. Otherwise there are plenty other choices from the competition that are faster and better priced.
