Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 3.16GHz LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor
Cons:It's not a quad core
Pros:dual core, fast Comment:
It's a good processor for a HTPC or for light gaming. There are better processor's out there now but this was AWESOME when I first got it. |

Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 3.16GHz LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor
Cons:Requires a significant step up in voltage over 4.2 Ghz.Can run hot at anything over 4.2 Ghz.
Pros:Great oc capability.Runs solid with everything out today.Runs cool if you set it up properly. Comment:
What else can be said about possibly the best CPU Intel have ever created. This thing is good aout of the box and great after you put the juice to it. Try to keep it under 1.365V after you burn it in, GL have fun. |

Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 3.16GHz LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor
Cons:Hard to overclock
Pros:Good reliabiltiyGreat heat preformancegood dual core use in OSVery good custmoer support Comment:
I bought this CPU in a computer system. I am still using it today and it is serving me well. It works very well with the newest graphics apps and games (perfect with GTA 4). It uses its ful dual core potential and boots very fast with the OS. Its very good in terms of temps, which are mostly under 40C with stock cooling. Overclocking is a bit complicated buy thats mostly attributed to my mobo. Definitely a to buy and a very worthy product for your PC! |

Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 3.16GHz LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor
Cons:The overcloackability, you have to be lucky and get a good chip to get some descent result before C0 stepping
Pros:Intel Core2 Duo architectureHigh frequencyLow price Comment:
For gaming Core 2 are way better than Quad cores, video games as of now cant take much benefit of more than 2 cores , also with core 2 you get higer frequency for lower cost than quad cores. Frequency is really important for videogames compared to the number of core. For gamers its the thing to get. Also compared to e8400 the average 60$ diferrence really worth it. |

Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 3.16GHz LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor
Cons:None yet.
Pros:Fast without being ridiculously expensive. Comment:
Great proc for those on a budget, but still looking for a good chip. Make sure you get a good mobo to OC it with though, as it can run above spec with no probs. Fast enough for everything I have thrown at it so far. |

Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 3.16GHz LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor
Cons:It's not the latest thing, but that can be a plus for the budget conscious.Takes a long time to OC, anything more than medium sized bumps it won't take.
Pros:The E8500:1. Runs much cooler and with greater efficiency than it's predecessors and many of its contemporaries.2. Amazing $/ power ratio. seriously... amazing!3. Huge headroom for Overclockers (which further enhances point 2)4. Very good access and process time. (I threw an 8 enemy 1000 unit limit map of Supreme Commander at it. I finally got lags around 6000 units) Comment:
If you are looking to build a strong machine, or upgrade an old one, and don't have the money throw away at a whim. This is a superb chip. |

Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 3.16GHz LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor
Cons:It won't make me some pancakes, and it never gets hot enough to even cook them.
Pros:CoolGood OCer Comment:
OC'd to 3.8Ghz just by changing the FSB from 333 to 400 and it stays at 33C (10C above ambient) at idle and 57C under load (Prime95). Ordered before christmas, received SLB9K (E0) stepping. I had a few extra bucks, so I went with the E8500 over the E8400 - I'm glad I did.Don't forget to PM... |

Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 3.16GHz LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor
Cons:none
Pros:Runs cool in my rig.Easily overclocked.Awesome for gaming. Comment:
I replaced an athlon x2 6000+ dual core with this cpu and I can't believe the difference. This thing smokes the athlon and it produces hardly any heat.I run it in my Antec 900 case and it's way cooler than my last setup. On top of that, it's running at 3700mhz, stable on air with lots left.Highly recommended. |

Cons:It's not pink
Pros:It's Shiny! Comment:
srsly, why don't they make these in pink? It's about time we had some anodized CPU's.I bet more mac book users would go PC if they could have pretty CPU colours like pink and baby blue. |

Cons:Supplied Heat Sink is small and Fan mounting are cheap plastic which can be easily be broken if you have to remove it.
Pros:PricePowerfulLow temperature Comment:
When my motherboard died I replaced my E6600 with this one.It gave me more improvment than I was expecting and the price was good.I use it at stock speed, might try some overclocking when I feel my system is stable and backed up. |

Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 3.16GHz LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor
Cons:none
Pros:-Awesome-Fast Comment:
This is an awesome cpu! It has a 9.5 multiplier which is 0.5 more than the E8400 but it was only $20 extra for this model. I recommend this over the E8400 if this is only more expensive by $20~ |

Pros:Fast, dual core, 45nm Comment:
Good CPU for a dual core, could be a bit cheaper compared to quad cores like Q6600 but still a great buy for single threaded apps. |

Cons:None so far
Pros:Quick, cool, easy to install, overclocks nicely Comment:
Got this on sale for 190 a few weeks back, which was the same price as the e8400. So I got this one instead. Everything is great with it so faroverclocked easily to 3.8GHz, could probably go further, but I don't see the point. Excellent choice for the price. |

Cons:none to speak of
Pros:fast and reliable Comment:
For the price this is a nice upgrade for anyone on a budget. I don't overclock as a rule so I can't comment on that part of it but for a budget system this has lots of speed and wont hold you back one bit |

Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 3.16GHz LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor
Cons:Nono
Pros:TempOCability Comment:
Running nice and cool r 4GHz with 1.2Vcore.I believe it's got more potential in it with increased voltage, but prefer the cool temp instead.Temp sits around 35r when idle and plays at mid 40's while playing games.Considering that there's a very little price difference between E8400, this one's definitely gotta be your pick. |

Cons:None at the moment. Running well, as expected.
Pros:This is a great CPU, and is only a couple bucks more than the 8400. Runs cool, and I hear is a good overclocker :) Comment:
Honestly after price matching, well worth the cost. As well as the slight upgrade over the 8400. It has been running very well and cool, for about a week now. An amazing upgrade from my very old 2mb E6400.Thanks NCIX! |

Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 3.16GHz LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor

Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 3.16GHz LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor
Cons:none yet
Pros:Great for OC'ing, fast, stable, strong Comment:
Was able to easily OC it past 4Ghz with air, like everyone else. I was actually really surprised at that, considering I had 800mhz memory. I've got 1066mhz on order right now, which should make it stable at 4.4ghz or so. Really can't go wrong with this CPU at the price. People keep saying go with the E8400, and I say no. Don't do it. Get this and be happy. |

Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 3.16GHz LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor
Cons:Dual Core!!!
Pros:Blazing Fast Speed!!! Comment:
This CPU is very fast, and can be overclocked easily to 4.0GHz no problem, just make sure you got the right cooling. With my TRUE in push/pull config, the cpu idles at 35C g 4.0GHz, and of course NCIX fast shipping and process was great |
Had this for 5 years now. Served me well. Going with 3930k for an upgrade
