Cons: PRICE! and thats it

Pros: total powerhouse, amazing overclocker

this CPU overclocks like crazy, so easy to overclock, and with such little votlage. It is an awesome chip for sure. Just costs a ton of money for sure, but once u get over that you got a 6core 12 thread unlocked INTEL EXTREME CHIP...I mean how cool is that?awesome.

Intel Core I7 Extreme Edition 980X 6 Core LGA1366 3.33GHZ 12MB Processor Retail Box
Cons: Price.

Pros: Most powerful CPU available at the moment and likely for the next 1+ years.Compatible with all X58 motherboardsRuns cooler and overclocks better than 65nm.Stock cooler is actually descent.12 threads of folding goodness! :)

I managed to score a very nice batch: 3003B331, the same one you see Linus has in the video review. It's an unbelievable overclocker running 4.5GHz 1.37v 24/7 stable! Load temps are generally around 50c with water cooling. Intel has hit another home run with this chip. If you can afford it and need this much processing power, buy it. Highly recommended!

You obviously didn't buy the cpu so who cares what your review is as you obviously know nothing about it. I bought this chip and I think it's wonderful. VERY noticable increase from my old system.

Great product, just not for anyone
Comment:
If you are a gamer, save yourself the money and invest in a powerful graphics card. Although in theory 6 cores of power sounds great, most games on the market today will not be able to use the additional cores. Gaming and other entertainment activities typically offload the work to the GPU. For example, when watching a H.264 encoded 1080p movie, frameworks such as DXVA use the GPU instead of the CPU. This is a processor meant to do serious rendering work and other CPU intensive tasks. If you still wish to blow $1000 to gain bragging rights, be my guest

High end does not equal value
Comment:
For the reviewers who want to compare apples and oranges. This is another huge step forward. This brings the average desktop PC closer to being a workstation. If you just want to play games on your PC build and AMD rig. If you do serious work Intel has given you the option to do this without having to spend twice as much to build a true workstation. The non-EE versions should be out in several months, and will be a real value.

2 STARS FOR VALUE
Comment:
I really have no problems with money 1100 dollars for a CPU installed in a personal computers is a little bit high. However you want to have the fastest car in the block you must pay for the upgrade. This is a great CPU but so it is the i7 920 which I had overclocked at 4 gz with 25% less performance than this one. yes you heard right is not tha much of a boost from an i7 920 280.00 dollars. No botlenecks or anything of the sort. So if you have money laying around put the extra ponies under the hood. but if you don't just keep overcloking your 920 you are not that far off

Caution on MOBO support reviewers
Comment:
Take caution on what you read. Always do your home work first. The EVGA X58 MOBO's do indeed handle this 6 core chip nicely infact. But just 1 of them. However the SR-2 will not! Yest it has 2 1366 sockets for 2 6 core chips. BUT ONLY XEON. They will not support any i7 chips see the EVGA website. VBSparks Electronics and Computer R&D Engineer.

Comment:
First off people who says this and that about gaming please note not everyone game on there pc anyway heatsink is really nice not one of those older crappy intel heatsinks,so good job intel, also they included thermal paste for you,tho i bought my own. out of the box installed with out a hitch had to do a bios update, processor runs way cooler than my 920,got it over clocked to 4.2 ghz at 1.37 volts i can easily hit 4.4 to 45 but i need to pump over 1.40 volts in and ill need a better wc system,i am on water now but ill need a super rad from monster or fesier. have not got to testing this baby out but so far love it!

Intel innovation at it's finest!!
Comment:
This is one powerfull chip. In 3DMark Vantage it boosted my CPU score up by almost double (vs. stock clocked i7 920 DO) and by almost 25% vs. overclocked i7 920 at 4.1Ghz. this chip overclocks very well too if you can give it the juice and a good home. im using the EVGa Classified e760. Its a powerhouse and the masses will get to enjoy it as soon as the non-extreme versions hit the shelf!!!

Don't own but hopefully getting one in 2 weeks!
Comment:
For the people complaining about it not doing justice for gaming, you can all go to hell! There are alot of things that take advantage from the extra 2 cores, just cause you only use a computer to game doesn't mean everybody else does!

Better than that 975
Comment:
If anyone should be complaining against, it's that 975, it's still worth the same (or more) than this 6-core beast.

Its not all that for the price
Comment:
I picked this thing up against my better judgement, well it is a fast cpu, but I think intel under powered the thing, my Q6700 is only 3 minutes behind in encoding movies. I dont think its worth a grand, maybe two or three hundred bucks at max. If you have a grand to throw away, then buy this puppy. If not get a q6700. By the way, I am no Noob, I have been buiding and repairing computer for fifteen years and counting.

I'm extremed!!!
Comment:
Can't wait for this processor to arrive and jump onto my motherboard. For all those haters who haven't even bought it, keep using your 5 year old AMD's if you love them so much. For those who have bought it like me, Congrads, This CPU upgrade should actually last for awhile. Thank you for the opportunity to purchase this wonderful processor. Should breath newborn life into my X58. Can't wait to see all the applications and games that will come out tailored to this processor.

6 cores.
Comment:
I see no point in 6 cores. Not many games support 4 core let alone 2. I would consider buying this in maybe 2-3 years.
