5 stars to cancel out bad reviews by those who have never even been in the same room as the processor, and therefore don't qualify to give it a rating. People rely on these reviews for unbiased inside information on their performance, but it seems some aren't able to grasp the concept.

waisted money over a Grand for this hunk of silicon? there will be better chips for less money in the near future. Intel tax is Huge on this product and i just cannot justify that on a desktop or server as there are many alternatives out there the money you save buying something else is more than the money you save by waisting it on this. by the way i do own one.

Please do not listen to the uneducated individuals giving this chip 1 star ratings. This chip is the first on a 32nm process from Intel which makes it very efficient considering its processing power. It has an unlocked multiplier for easy overclocking, 6 actual cores with Hyperthreading, 12mb L3 cache (significantly more than any of the other i7s) This chip is not intended for gaming, but for folding, rendering, encoding, virtual machines, and other cpu intensive tasks that CAN AND DO USE ALL 12 threads.

Its an amazing product for one and extremely fast. People who do a lot of video and 3D rendering will definitely notice the difference. For those who can't read this is a socket 1366 processor so any current board with a Core i7 processor supports it. It is SIX cores WITH Hyper-threading and DOES show up as 12 cores. Anyone giving it 1 stars is just trying to rate it down out of spite. Sure its a bit expensive but that's what happened when the first dual cores, quad cores, etc came out. Its not going to be any different that new tech costs a lot to begin with.

All of you reviews who complained about this processor don't know anything. about the true power of this CPU. if you use any adobe,autoCad, products they will use all 12 (logical cores).......12mb cache... SWEET. ordered mine..... wish i was getting it tomorrow. but have to wait till the 18th. FYI this CPU has a 63% increase in IOPS.

I dont know why all the bad reviews? it has 6 logical cores which is 12 Hyperthreaded, why does everyone assume it is for gaming only? 3D graphic designers along with film editors need extreme amounts of CPU Horse power, which this undoubtedly gives, seems like a great product on a great POPULAR socket LGA 1366, 5 stars.

who's mobo even supports it? i hardcore game with my phenom 2 quad core and have never even used more than 50 percent of processor, so this is completley overkill, and by the time games catch up with that, the processor will be 100 dollars so don't buy it

Many more high quality processers out there for a much better price point. I am not doubting that it is quick, but they are marketing this for desktops not servers, so even for the hard core gamers, they will never utilize all six cores. Don't review something if you haven't bought it. You reviewers should also read more carefully, it doesn't say it's the world's first 6 core but the fastest. I don't know if it's the fastest but anyways restrain yourself from irrelevant reviews. It's a step forward into something new and efficient, price is a bit high.

although this is not the first 6-core processor made, it is however the first one to be marketed toward desktop users and not a server environment.

Xeon Processor E5520 8M Cache, 2.26 GHz, 5.86 GT per s It only cost about $375 the difference for a six core and this unit per performance is getting to great on what performance cost. Yes, it is 6 core, but the difference in bang for buck isn't at pricing over $1000. my opinion. Do your math.
