Intel Core i7-2600K Processor 3.4GHz LGA 1155 95W Quad-Core Desktop
Cons:Price
Pros:PerformanceOverclocking Comment:
Without doing any manual tweaks, my motherboard put this at 4.6 on first try and it was completely stable. Credit goes to my motherboard of course too. Can't wait to play around with it some more and see what I can get out of it, but it didn't even blink an eye on that jump. Performance is great, I do a lot of video editing so I saw a lot of increases there. If you are only really using your PC for gaming and surfing I would get the 2500K instead. |

Comment:
Back to an Intel processor for the initial time due to the fact the late 90's. With the processing power I needed for gaming, video editing, and parallel computer software development I had to go with something a bit employ end than AMD's offering considering that I have to make this upgrade final for the next few years. Did this processor fit my specifications? They actually exceeded them. I upgraded from an over-clocked AMD 6400+ dual core. In my everyday tasks I dropped from 60-100% cpu usage down to 2-18% undertaking the exact same tasks. I have only maxed out all the cores a few occasions performing intense parallel programming testing and a test video encode which was so rapidly I couldn't genuinely quantify how a lot quicker, it was just carried out.I haven't more than-clocked however, but I feel I am going too. I have one app that I have just learned is single threaded and its maxing out the single core and taking 10-25 seconds to run every single time so I think upping to four.4ghz could take that down to 6-18 seconds which would be a good improvement. I don't have any cons for this processor. How could you? Its just too good and flawless. My cons would have to be the cost, but its reasonably for the efficiency. An additional con is maybe in the course of system creating when you be concerned almost everything may possibly blow up when you turn it on and you remember how considerably cash you have tied up in all these components all linked together. So genuinely, no cons... Upgrading from AMD 6400+ dual core to i7-2600k was like receiving out of a Kia SUV and jumping into a turbo Porsche.I should mention I upgraded from 4GB DDR two average memory to 16GB Gskill cas-7 DDR3-1600 memory. Lots of lot latency quick memory most likely helps the massive performance enhance I have experienced by a significant margin. I am now working with no swap file and averaging 6-8GB of memory usage with a lot left and no disk thrashing.Nonetheless have a Radeon 5850, though I had to upgrade my powersupply from a seasonic 430W, it was only due to the fact It lacked the 12V wire required by my ASUS P67 deluxe motherboard. I have yet to use far more then 300 watts from the technique with the video card maxed and the cpu usage at 20-30% which was around 280W.Utilizing 4 initial gen 74gb drives in raid , and two 1-TB drives in JBOD for 1.82TB storage, with a 2TB esata drive for mirroring that which I turn off to preserve information. |

Cons:3000 series just came out
Pros:Cool, fast, decent integrated graphics, massively overclockable Comment:
I'm not much of an overclocker, but with an H100 on this thing, Asus' OC tool got the chip quickly and easily up to 4.7GHz stable. With some minor tweaking and for the sake of braging rights, I got the chip up to 5.0GHz running nice and stable. FoldingkHome PPD at 5G is aprox 40k with a flat 2 minutes per frame (if you're into that kinda thing) |

Cons:Price is High compared to the 2500k. If you're not not in dire need of the hyperthreading, save yourself 100$ and grab the i5.Stock heatsink is terrible if you're going to overclock.
Pros:Quality product by intel. Comment:
Works great! The hyperthreading makes my projects in AutoCad run like a dream. Running at 4.5Ghz without any problems. |

I bought this in a bundle with ,my p67 sabertooth and I do not look back, this thing is lightning fast when pair with an SSD making load times non existent. Upgrading from a e800 h 3.4ghz, the difference seems like night and day. |

Intel Core i7-2600K Processor 3.4GHz LGA 1155 95W Quad-Core Desktop
Cons:none
Pros:Easy to overclock, temperatures are great with water cooled system, able to achieve 5ghz with ease. Comment:
Bought this for my gaming build in August 2011. I have the system water cooled and was able to hit 5ghz with little effort. I could go higher but I don't feel the need to as I wouldn't see a difference anyways. Tested the overclock on prime95 blend for 6 hours with no issues at all. Average temperature was 54C during the prime95 test using Realtemp to monitor. You can see the original post I made after I completed the build in the PC Builder's workshop here on NCIX forums, or through this link:http://forums.ncix.com/forums/?mode=showthread&forum=191&threadid=2411828&pagenumber=1&msgcount=25&subpage=1 |

I use a p67 asus motherboard with efi bios and a lot of other capabilities. wonderful so far. overclocked to 4.7ghz ቸc. none when the motherboard goes into power efficency mode my watts being utilized from my cpu go all the way down to 3volts. I want to see how significantly much less power the laptop or computer utilizes now. A+ |

Cons:It is a S1155 SandyBridge. Boo. You got to clock the crap out of it to compete with a S1366.
Pros:Clocks great. Comment:
I bought this CPU solely to clock the s*** out of it to see what all the hype was about.Believe the hype. I stuffed this CPU in a Maximus IV Gene-Z with 8GB Dominator GT DDR3-2000, and easily hit 5.0GHZ+. |

1) Totally unlocked for straightforward overclocking, and a lot of headroom to do so.two) Lower energy consumption.3) Turbo Enhance 2..four) This BEAST hasn’t flinched at anything I have thrown at it so far. It is operating robust and reliable at 4.8GHz ideal now without having any problems whatsoever so far. I might try for an even 5.0GHz just to say it can and I did. ;-)five) I just upgraded from an E660 Core Duo two.4GHz that I have had ‘reliably’ overclocked to three.5GHz for the past 4 plus years, so I am thoroughly enjoying this leap in technology and performance. WOW, I can’t say sufficient!!Ő) And, of course, I can't forget the pricing based on what you get in technology and performance. Bottom line, you can't go wrong with this BEAST!!! None so far. My new Pc Develop for reference is as follows:- CM Storm Sniper 'Black Edition' - RAIDMAX RX-1200AE 1200W PSU- Intel i7 2600K (Rocken' at 4.8GHz)- CM V6GT (Top-Notch air cooling for OC'ing i7 2600K)- G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB- ASRock P67 Extreme 6 (This factor ROCKS!!!)- ocZ Vertex 3 120GB SSD, SATA III (Incredible)- Western Digital VelociRaptor 600GB, SATA III- Dual EVGA GTX 580 - SLI (WOW!) |

Cons:My liquid CPU cooler was DOA so I've been using the stock heatsink until my RMA comes back which works fine when running lower demanding games but running BF3 on ultra gets it to a scary 83c
Pros:Amazing CPU, definitely my top choice if you want more for your money. At 3.4 stock you can't go wrong especially at the cool temperature these run at. Not a single hitch with it. Comment:
IMO, best CPU you can buy for the price you wont go wrong |

does what a cpu is suppose to do. Happy with what I got but since this is relatively new on the market you should probably try and price match to save some money. |
Can simply handle something I throw at it! Overclocking feature is also nice! Heatsink/fan were entirely useless! I fought with the factor for about an hour and in fact ended up slightly scratching my motherboard attempting to get all the legs secured. The slight amount of paste on the copper surface also half peeled off right out of the package, I replaced it hoping it would still be adequate. Getting believed it was secure I turned it on only to locate it overheating. I purchased a diverse fan/heatsink that had bolts on the bottom! Wow did that work so much better! Only a couple of bucks much more than the non oc capable version, how can you go wrong? Wish they would have saved me a few bucks or just a lot of headache by just not giving me the fan.
