Intel Core i7-3930K 3.2GHz (3.8GHz Turbo) LGA 2011 Six-Core Desktop Processor
Cons:- does not come with a heatsink. (If, like me, you plan to buy an aftermarket cooler anyways, then this is actually more of a 'pro')
Pros:- 6 cores- quad channel ram Comment:
Picked this up over the holidays for around $480 (very reasonable price). It was an upgrade from my old Core 2 Duo 3.0GHz. The difference was VERY noticeable. |

Intel Core i7-3930K 3.2GHz (3.8GHz Turbo) LGA 2011 Six-Core Desktop Processor
Cons:Because the memory controller is integrated, the 3930K gives exceptional memory performance. However that is also one of its curses. Higher DRAM frequency, and especially voltage, increase the power load on the chip. So a very delicate balance between RAM and CPU overclocking should be maintained. What I found very interesting while overclocking was the fact that for higher frequencies, higher voltage is necessary for stability. However higher voltage also increases the power consumption and therefore heat. There is an optimum voltage, a minimum one, where the CPU is stable for the target frequency while the generated heat is as low as possible. As a torture test I left the CPU at 91C (195F) temperature for a few hours, watching the multiplier throttled from 47/48 down to 34 and once it cools a couple of degrees back again to the peak. That's a fair compromise, considering that this chip pushes the tech. Ivy Bridge should improve he situation regarding power and temp. Until then, if the cash is available, 3930K is a no brainer.
Pros:Intel's 6-core i7 CPUs need no introduction. They have been the undisputed kings of performance since their introduction in mid 2011 and it seems will be holding that title at least until sometime during the first half of 2013. My 3930K overclocked with little trouble from the stock 3.2 to 4.7 Ghz using Corsair's H100 water cooler in push-pull configuration. At 4.7Ghz the power dissipation simply crosses the 130W limit and thereby forces the CPU to reduce the multiplier. Although reaching 5.1 Ghz was possible, even with fine-tuning to keep it stable, the CPU's throttling means lower average performance and higher heat and power ceilings. The IPC on this chip is amazing and hyperthreading has a positive impact more often than not. At 6 cores running at an average 4.6Ghz, building WebKit/Chrome takes almost 7x less time than on Quad Core 9300 at 2.7Ghz (from 49mins down to 7:20).Monitor: HP ZR30W 30” 2560X1600Motherboard: ASUS P9X79 DeluxeRAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws Z 32GB 1866 q 2000CPU: Intel Core i7 3930K 3200 q 4700 MhzCooler: Corsair Hydro Series H100GPU: XFX Radeon HD 7950 Double DSSD: Samsung 830 Series 256GBHDD: 2TB Seagate/1TB Samsung/640GB WD/640GB WDCase: Corsair Obsidian Series 650D Comment:

Intel Core i7-3930K 3.2GHz (3.8GHz Turbo) LGA 2011 Six-Core Desktop Processor
Cons:price and you'll miss out on a few things sadly such as thunderbolt as x79 doesn't have onboard graphics so unless a manufacturer like asus does something like their asus zeus motherboard there is no chance for thunderbolt
Pros:6 cores/12 logical, very good overclocker, gives you bragging rights Comment:
i bought this back in feburary for a gaming/rendering monsterit doesn't get too hot and doesn't draw that much power of course compared to something like an ivy bridge i3 or something it is more than twice the power but it draws a little less than my old phenom iiit is very fast and on air cooling mine is clocked at about 4.2GHz |

Intel Core i7-3930K 3.2GHz (3.8GHz Turbo) LGA 2011 Six-Core Desktop Processor
Cons:It'll be replaced in ~1 year
Pros:Fantastic CPU, offers extreme performance at a more manageable price compared to the other two models above this one Comment:
This CPU is only the 3rd model out of the 4 extreme CPU's, but offers just as good of a performance compared to the other really excessively priced higher end models. If you're looking to build a LGA2011 Platform PC, this CPU should be your bare minimum requirement for a CPU. |

Pros:Solid overclocker6 coresQuad channel memory Comment:
This thing is amazingly easy to overclock. Just on air, you can increase the multiplier a bit to get over 4.0gHz. Then you can get somewhere between 4.4-4.7gHz depending on your setup. Great performance. |

Cons:cheapest 2011 mobo is same price as higher end 1155 socket mobo
Pros:12 thread cpu at decent price Comment:
Always wanted 12 thread cpu, and since in the past they always been in the 1k+ range, this one at 600 dollar was a must have. I oc'ed it to 5ghz on my first attempt no issues whatsoever at about 1.475volts and hits about max 87C with prime95 using the H100 corsair liquid cooling.
