Cons:Because the memory controller is integrated, the 3930K gives exceptional memory performance. However that is also one of its curses. Higher DRAM frequency, and especially voltage, increase the power load on the chip. So a very delicate balance between RAM and CPU overclocking should be maintained.What I found very interesting while overclocking was the fact that for higher frequencies, higher voltage is necessary for stability. However higher voltage also increases the power consumption and therefore heat. There is an optimum voltage, a minimum one, where the CPU is stable for the target frequency while the generated heat is as low as possible.As a torture test I left the CPU at 91C (195F) temperature for a few hours, watching the multiplier throttled from 47/48 down to 34 and once it cools a couple of degrees back again to the peak.That's a fair compromise, considering that this chip pushes the tech. Ivy Bridge should improve he situation regarding power and temp. Until then, if the cash is available, 3930K is a no brainer.

Pros:Intel's 6-core i7 CPUs need no introduction. They have been the undisputed kings of performance since their introduction in mid 2011 and it seems will be holding that title at least until sometime during the first half of 2013. My 3930K overclocked with little trouble from the stock 3.2 to 4.7 Ghz using Corsair's H100 water cooler in push-pull configuration. At 4.7Ghz the power dissipation simply crosses the 130W limit and thereby forces the CPU to reduce the multiplier. Although reaching 5.1 Ghz was possible, even with fine-tuning to keep it stable, the CPU's throttling means lower average performance and higher heat and power ceilings.The IPC on this chip is amazing and hyperthreading has a positive impact more often than not. Cons:price and you'll miss out on a few things sadly such as thunderbolt as x79 doesn't have onboard graphics so unless a manufacturer like asus does something like their asus zeus motherboard there is no chance for thunderbolt
