6 Cores! Why would any person give this 1 egg? This is by far the finest CPU I have ever owned. Got this from Intel Retail Edge for much less than 1ǚ of the cost. Comes with decent heatsink, overclocks like a champ, great to have so substantially processing power in a 1366 socket. 1st CPU shipped by newegg was an older box and was DOA. RNA method was smooth and the new CPU is fantastic.

Good CPU for the price tag, easily more than clockable. Took to three.85hz with no hic-cups. Brought my back down to 3.45hz at 150 bus bump and modifying volts alitte. Plays everthing I can throw at it, No tension. NONE Running a: Cooler Master HAF complete tower, Corsair 850w power provide, Corsair H50 cooler which keeps the 970 at a cool 31c at complete tilt, ASUS P6x58D prem board @ 6G's of ram - upgrading to 12G's soon, ASUS 580 Video card and some other goodies.

Six hyperthreaded cores make this issue an absolute beast in terms of efficiency. Yes, it's pricey, but you get what you spend for. The stock heatsink, even though massive, does a fantastic job of keeping the CPU cool (for me, it commonly runs about 40-45 C). The stock heatsink is massive, and might have difficulty fitting in a smaller case. I have a screenshot of Windows Task Manager with this CPU installed. I received the i7-940 back in July via the Intel Retail Edge Program and now upgraded to the i7-970. I do a lot of perform in CS5 and Adobe Lightroom three so i felt this was a worthy upgrade. I was lucky to get it for the cost I did. But if I hadn't my 920 would have been just fine Trust me this thing isn't worth the current value. But the efficiency, overclockability and the stock HSF make it the very best thing around. Get one particular if you have a g to throw about. or get the 980X rather. But IMO the 920,930 and 950 are all excellent alternatives.

Like other reviewers on here I purchased mine from the Intel retail edge program for 50 dollars much less then what I paid for my AMD 1090T. This CPU @ stock speeds is walking all over my 1090T that is OC's to four.3Ghz. Not just in benchmarks, but overall overall performance. And my gaming encounter. I have OC'd this CPU to four.7Ghz max on the stock air cooler and 5.4Ghz on my SS phase change. Becoming my initially Intel chip in years it was a unbelievable upgrade, I really did not know what I was missing out on till now. The retail price is to high for a locked multi CPU.

Overclocks incredibly well and still runs cool. None. Quite surprised. It overclocks to 4.2 Ghz with temps in the high 60C to low 70C range in a 23C space at 100% continuous 24ǝ load (F@H). Cooler is a thermalright VenomousX. The stock cooler really should do properly sufficient for gamers.

6 cores! Speeds through every little thing I can throw at it. Short of going to extreme editions a very good CPU. A bit high priced I guess. NE had it for โ off and I took it though. Got this for an update to my gaming machine. Double my 775 quad core benchmarks (new MB and an additional GPU helped too). Watercooled and prepared for OCing. Even survived a board I shorted out and ruined. Keeps on ticking.

Super rapid. OC capable to 130% with stock air cooling. 12 Threads make the CPU list within the Device Manager really long. Preocessed and installed Win7 from a DVD in 10 minutes. None at all, other than getting to shell out 6 bills for it, but I guess it's worth it. Comes with a fairly decent stock cooler. Purchased a Thermaltake Frio (anyway) for it.
