Intel X25-V SSDSA2MP040G2R5 2.5" MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)
Cons:
-Small small capacity for big price (not so bad on sale for $80)
Pros: -Amazing drive- Comment:
This is a great little boot drive if you can live with the small capacity. It is basically the OS + some windows programs and maybe 1 steam game. I got it with Shogun Total War 2 but I couldn't add it on the SSD cause the game was almost 20 GB :/ When this goes on sale, it is a great purchase to make! When the newer SSD's come down in price then it will lose its value a bit more. |

Intel X25-V SSDSA2MP040G2R5 2.5" MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)
Cons:
none to date
Pros: top of the line, fast, quiet Comment:
Got this drive to be the primary boot drive on my HTPC. This thing boots Ubuntu is ~10seconds and has XBMC running in ~12seconds. Nothing really bad to say about this product at all, as Intel has been at the top of the SSD world for some time. |

Intel X25-V SSDSA2MP040G2R5 2.5" MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)
Cons:
Small capacity. Windows 7 + Office 2007 + a few other basic apps only leave 10GB of space to play with. A secondary "storage" spinner drive is a must. Luckily, 2TB green drives can be had for nearly the same price as this SSD.
Pros: Easy to install (no jumpers)Windows 7 has no problems detecting the drive, as all necessary drivers are already in it. Comment:
The drive performs as it should. Windows performance rating gives this drive a score of 7.1 (with 7.9 being the maximum rating for any given component). My previous score was 5.3 with my 7200 RPM Seagate Barracuda on an exact same setup. Furthermore, placing two of these drives in Raid 0 would certainly achieve the maximum rating (go on YouTube to see benchmark videos).Also... speaking of YouTube... in one of the videos on there, the famous NCIX hardware expert talks about this drive and says that you can remove the black plastic bracket on top of the drive if you wish to. DON'T! If you do, the drive's metal casing literally separates in two and the screws are too short to reassemble without the black plastic bracket in place. Bottom line: leave the drive "as is" and don't attempt to remove the bracket!A side note: if you want to put your current C: drive on this SSD without having to reinstall Windows (and everything else), I recommend that you "clone" your old hard drive onto this one first. I used a free application called "EASEUS Todo Backup Home 2.0" to clone my old C: drive onto the X25-V (under Windows 7) and everything worked perfectly. It took less than 20 minutes to complete the drive cloning and I was then ready to swap out my old drive with the X25-V without losing a byte of data. Excellent! |

Other than the price of this SSD (like any other ssd the price will be high for awhile)
Pros: Speed, 1000000 hour rating, long warrantym 6 dollar shipping Comment:
Not much to say other than its fast reliable and able to boot win 7 ult on 12 gb of 2000mhz (oc'd to 2056) in about 8 seconds. IM LOVING IT |

Great SSD for running ur OS and some small apps on. Very quick boot times. Looks nice in my case. I do plan to get another one of these in the future and RAID 0 them for even better performance. |

Intel X25-V SSDSA2MP040G2R5 2.5" MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)
Cons:
- small capacity
Pros: - fast, quiet, and probably low power consumption Comment:
Purchased this drive mainly for the low price (bundled deal with a WD Blue 500GB here at NCIX) and apparently the good reviews about the Intel SSD drives. This 40GB value drive does not write as fast as the other SSDs offered by Intel. But the read speed is just as good.I used this drive mainly for my OS install. I have approximately 21 GB left over after installing Windows 7 Pro 64-bit. Before relocating the registry entries for "program files" location to a Samsung Spinpoint F4 320GB, I have a windows experience score of 7.5. |

Cons:
Price/Size/Speed (Not the best value atm)
Pros: Comes with all the mounting accessoriesWorks well with out issue Comment:
This product worked well and the only issue I had at first was Windows XP not detecting the drive.Once Windows 7 was installed though there was no issue and the drive has been smooth ever since.Maybe not the fastest drive for the price at the moment or the largest. Still a solid drive overall though and I am happy with my purchase. |

Intel X25-V SSDSA2MP040G2R5 2.5" MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)
Cons:
ssds are still expensive
Pros: energy efficientno moving parts Comment:
I bought this for use in a laptop, and was looking for energy effiency and no moving parts rather than performance (the performance boost over my old 5400rpm drive was a bonus). This was the most energy efficient drive i could find for the lowest price possible. 40gb was more than enough to hold windows 7 64. The operating system took about 9 GB and was 12gb after installing drivers, office, and some other small things. Start-up to login is now ~ 25s and shutdown is ~ 10s. Battery life on my laptop definitely much better now. |

Intel X25-V SSDSA2MP040G2R5 2.5" MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)
Cons:
-Bad for me, but good for you. Cheaper than what I paid for 2 weeks ago-only 40GB (after Windows, only 4GB left)
Pros: IntelCan be mounted very easilyReasonable good price for SSD Comment:
It's not the fastest SSD on the market but it is comparatively cheaper and if you only want to install the OS, then it's fine. I paired this with a WD Caviar Black SATA3 to store all my data/pictures/video and programs, leaving just the SSD to handle the OS and some apps. Working good so far. It's so quiet and quick to boot up. Excellent investment if you can't wait for the further price drop. |

Pros: Amazing speedsQuietPerfect for Operating system SSD Comment:
Once you go SSD you never go back. I officially hate the noise of regular Hard drives and their annoying load times.. even with Raptors which is what I used prior to the new SSD's. I am very impressed, and will buy a 2nd one real soon for a dual boot of Windows XP and windows 7. |

Cons:
Only 40GB so have to be stingy on space
Pros: Literally no access timesTRIM Comment:
This is an excellent SSD as a boot drive with TRIM support. It beats all the other SSD's currently in the small random read/writes, which most companies do not advertise, but accounts for just under 50% of an average user's usage. |

well not as fast as OCZ's drives for same price. WRITE speeds are lacking, but SSD's are so fast anyway
Pros: fast, reliable, great Comment:
great little drive for the Price. WRITE speeds kinda suck, but SSD's are so fast u will never notice. But TRIM working well, this is a great SSD when on sale, installs right away, works great, fast, reliable, a good cheap SSD. 40GB is not bad storage either. |

Intel X25-V SSDSA2MP040G2R5 2.5" MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)
Cons:
Low capacity and cost/GB
Pros: Very fast program loading, system startup, shutdown, hibernate times Comment:
With SSD prices still so high, this is a relatively economical little drive that will hold Windows and a handful of programs. It gets the job done for me. So probably a good choice if you're looking for a lightning-fast SSD boot drive on a budget and don't mind keeping media and games on a separate disk. |

It has only 40gb before format. Fits OS and a few apps or games.
Pros: Fast! TRIM support. Comment:
$/gb is no comparison to mechanical. But the speed is great. Open 4 apps and they all open right away in comparison to a mechanical hdd. |

Intel X25-V SSDSA2MP040G2R5 2.5" MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)
Cons:
-40gb (37.2 formatted)-Still expensive per gb, but it's new tech. I remember buying a 60gb HDD for $400.-Not as fast as higher capacity models
Pros: -Intel's great random access times-Runs like it's not even on-Can be mounted anywhere. With tape.-Price Comment:
Excellent starter into the SSD market. Cheap and fast, you'll notice it right away switching from that slow mechanical hard drive. 40gb is probably more than enough for an average user with Windows 7 and most of your apps and maybe a game or two, I have about 16gb free after installing mine. Pair this with a larger storage drive and you're set. You'll never look back after going SSD.Now if only those 1tb drives didn't cost $4000... |

Intel X25-V SSDSA2MP040G2R5 2.5" MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)
Cons:
Not the panacea that everyone makes it out to beCan be tricky to flashMay not work in older ,systems
Pros: Runs very coolCheap Comment:
I have 2 of these now. One I put into an Acer Aspire One with Windows 7. Unfortunately, it doesn't save the atom processor from being a dog. It's still a dog. However, the hot spot where the hard drive used to be is now very cool. The other drive, I tried to put into an older PC, one that takes so long to boot, you can go for a cup of coffee, come back, and still have to wait for it to finish booting. Unfortunately, the old SATA 1.5GB/s ports would not recognize this drive. Should-a known better. Since I didn't want to have to buy another SATA card for an obsolete PC, I decided to make it my boot drive in my already fast Windows 7 box (overclocked E8400). While a bit faster overall, it's really not enough to make any significant difference. In fact, the other family members didn't even notice a difference. The Windows 7 rating is 7.5 and is only really noticeable when launching programs like Word.So overall, for an already fast PC with 4Gigs of RAM and a fast hard drive, this is NOT WORTH IT.For a netbook or laptop that doesn't need a large hard drive, this will definitely run cooler and give a nice consistent Windows experience, if not a lightning fast one. So for a netbook or laptop, this drive is definitely WORTH IT. |

Intel X25-V SSDSA2MP040G2R5 2.5" MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)
Cons:
OK. Yes, it's only 40gbs. That's as small as I would go on a Win7 machine. I immediately bought another one and will probably RAID-0.
Pros: This is the cheapest way noticeably boost performance on any machine. Period. Spend hundreds on RAM or cooling or raid setups... but this is just quick, clean and REALLY FAST. Comment:
I've put Win7 on this drive and tossed into 5 different machines now and, without fail, they make the machine feel like it's new! Laptop? Perfect. Just have to grab an external HD for storage. Desktop? Almost perfect. OS and main apps on this drive. All other stuff on hard disks. It will fill up in time though. For the time being, this drive is the way to go. In another year... 120s might be in range... might. |

Cons:
Hangs on windows startup (though, this may be a PEBKAC installation problem)Did not ship with the most up to date firmware
Pros: Amazingly fast Comment:
Having had this drive for a week now I can safely say it is a HUGE improvement over any mechanical hard drive, it just cannot compare. You can even tell when installing something that a mechanical drive would take .1 seconds after clicking next to respond, where this is instantaneous. I did however have to put new firmware on it, not that it is a huge deal. |

Intel X25-V SSDSA2MP040G2R5 2.5" MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)
Cons:
Still a bit pricey per GB
Pros: Very small sizeExtremely fast (not as much so as the M series, but it's hard to notice much of a difference in real world use)No moving partsNo defragmentation neededTRIM enabled out of the boxLatest firmware 02HD was installed on my unitComes with conversion bracket to mount in a desktop 3.5" hard drive space"My SSD rocks" stickerSilent operationEasily installed in a desktop or notebook Comment:
I put this unit in my ASUS UL20A-A1 notebook and it has been fantastic. Boot-up times are tremendously fast. No stuttering, no problems. Windows 7 takes up around 11-15GB of space, leaving 20-25GB free space. Perfect for a notebook computer/boot drive for a desktop PC. The total space is 37.3GB free once formattedWill update review more, have only used it for about a day. So far, this has been one of the best purchases in the last year that I've made.Edit: People have criticized this drive for low write speeds (rated at 35mb/s I believe). If you are copying huge files to the drive (which you shouldn't be doing anyways, it's not for storage) then you will see the performance suffer. This thing kicks butt in random read/writes, little files. Installing programs is incredibly quick (MS word etc). If you are concerned about the write speed, don't be. I honestly find it quite difficult to tell the difference between this and my X25-M 80GB in my desktop PC in day to day use. And for those of you out there who just aren't willing to bite the SSD bullet, let me tell you, it is a huge improvement over a standard hard drive. Especially a 5400RPM notebook drive. I couldn't believe I actually put it off this long, it's the one thing that has improved my "responsiveness" of my system the most! This review was modfied by poster @ 02-05-10 05:40 PM |
I use this drive as my primary OS drive and everything is hyper fast, 27 seconds from pressing restart in windows 7 to being back at the desktop.Unfortunately, 40GB's go fast nowadays as the OS takes up about 30 and the remaining 10 are quickly eaten up by applications and other miscellaneous stuff. I will buy a 2nd one soon for RAID 0 to get 80GB's and put my games on here.
