Bought them for $400. They are pretty good for this price point. In fact they should pair well with receivers up to $1000 range. When used with an Onkyo (608), they do sound quite clinical (I would describe  the feeling as "clink & clank"). A Yamaha might drive these with warmer sounds. I'm still waiting for a good deal on a Yamaha to find out for sure though. Being a 5.1 set, it also gives you a chance to upgrade your front sound stage if the need (or desire) arises in the future. However, that's also its weakness, the front sound stage is nothing spectacular for orchestral excellence. Audiophiles might seek something with more muscle. Overall the build quality is solid. Great for home cinema, but less persuasive for musical purists.
