The esata connection dosent work ,may aswell have got a normal usb connected external hard drive.

Everything works as expected no problems after 2 months of constant use. ESATA cord makes transfer downright fast. USB 2.0 is slower, but still adequate for playing media.

Despite the available ESATA port, I use the USB port for my older PCs and linux boxes. The average transfer speed is one fourth the maximum USB average speed, but the dock does its duty of transferring data. The included tiny software is not needed, and I recommend just using it like a USB stick for backup.

simple data, movie backup for all my network computers. backup and restore data. adding extra esata connections to all my pc's for ez dock. This product has fast data transfer on esata and slow play back on usb hdtv to divx stored movies on hard drive . a great product. just order 2 more.

have only used it via e-sata connection, but has worked very well for what i needed (recovery of data from hard drives when the computer or os is kaput). knocked it down 1 point on performance because i would occasionally get smart status errors from a drive that reports no errors when mounted in a pc. also took 1 point off of quality because i think they could have made the drive feel a bit more secure when mounted in the dock: feels wobbly, first time you use it you will wonder whether you actually have the drive sitting in there properly. other than that, has worked very well.

The design of this product is not that good. But boy does it work well. You just need to put your HD in and it's already mounted. I recommend the use of eSATA since USB is as slow as a turtle compared to eSATA (3 Gbps vs. 480 Mbps). Tried it with Windows XP, Vista, 7 and Mac OS X. Work flawlessly with each OS. great product for price !

I've owned and used this unit for several months glitch free. The unit and cables are very well built plus the Esata cable I will say has a thick covering...not thin so any interference is hindered. I've tested drives up to 1 TB (including Seagate)..works!Not sure if all these units are capable however in all the drives that I had in here they all spun-down after inactivity. Mind you I have only used this with my external NAS server that in itself supports a timed feature to spin down any internal and obviously externally attached hard drives..BONUS on the externally attached which is my Kingwin! I'm very pleased with this unit...so much so I just bought another one moments ago.

I can pretty much echo what other positive reviews mention but with one very important caveat. You CANNOT clone disk to disk or partition to partition with clonimg software such as spotmau too EZ-DOC - It does all the regular stuff but if your intention is to boot from cloning software and clone your main hdd with your operationg system on it you are out of luck with this item. These docks work great. I just purchased a 2nd one. This is the only SATA dock I've used so I don't know how they compare, but based on some reviews, it appears the Kingwin is a winner.

This product is both fast and cheap, comes with everything you need to get it running with either an eSata or USB connection. I highly recommend this product especially if you have a bunch of sata drives laying around as it is very easy to swap drives out.

Thought this was a good value for the money. However, I was unaware that my somewhat older ATA Seagate drive was not connecter compatible (needed to be SATA) and had to return it. Return was painless and this retailer was very helpful with assisting.

This item came with no instructions at all and a Windows 98 Disk that would not load or run in my computer. I searched online to find a Vista driver without any success. I ended up having to connect my new drive internally and use another program to clone my drive.

works great. real easy to swap hdd's but still maintain sata speeds and not usb2. have several other kingwin products and all have performed well.

Put drive in slot, plug it in, turn it on, and you're up and running. At least, that's how it was with my WDC 500GB drive. Perfect for any kind of backups you want to do, including image backups. Acronis True Image 11 recognized the drive instantly, and so did Vista. If you store games and/or other high-demand software on a secondary drive, now you can run that stuff from that drive, using this dock. Comes with both USB and eSATA cables. Forget paying premium prices for external drives--you'll never need to do that again!

HP desktop and laptop computers, OS Vista Home Premium. I was looking for a simple cost effective back up system for my computers. This web site suggested to HD docks as an alternative to other back up systems. The Kingwin EZ-Dock EZD-2535 has preformed flawlessly so far. My only criticism is the instructions could be more explicit. I would recommend this product.
