Keyboard Smart Harmony
Cons:not illuminated (media centre keyboard should be (look at the logitech830)
Pros:easy setup, works really well when you have an htpc hooked up with your entertainment setup. Comment:
Good product, easy to set up. Keyboard isnt doesnt have the same quality that other logitech keyboards have, but is decent enough. Should really be illuminated for living room use. |

Keyboard Smart Harmony
Cons:Setup can take awhileSmartphone remote app is 3+ screens
Pros:Turn your smartphone into a universal remoteExcellent HTPC keyboardMakes for a very simple to use home theatre setup. Comment:
I'm using this to connect my HTPC and PS3 to my television through my soundbar, as a replacement of a four year old Harmony One remote. I was mostly interested in the keyboard, but was intrigued by the Harmony Hub, and the app from logitech. Setup will take awhile, and follows the standard setup for a Harmony remote. You input the models of your devices, and then setup the ways they are connected and what they will be doing for each activity. I say this takes awhile as you do it through your phone, as opposed to through your computer as is standard with older Harmony products.Once this is up and running, you're good to go. The remote (your phone, or the keyboard) will control WI-fi and Bluetooth devices, and the hub acts as an IR Blaster for the non-networked devices. The keyboard works really well, has a built in trackpad, and can be used on two separate devices through the USB doggles. |
Don't get me wrong, it's a really nice product if you look only at the hardware. I was a big Logitech fan until now. It seems to work great with my receiver and my tv, but it's really unreliable to control my pc (on Windows 7). First of all, the software is simply horrible. You absolutely need your phone to configure it. The app is overly complicated and buggy. The pc would wake up/suspend about once every 5 tries using the Bluetooth dongle. So I bought a usb IR receiver, it's more reliable but there's always times where everything starts but not the pc. Same thing with suspend. Then the keyboard gets confused sometimes and thinks it's off, so the pc is running but I cannot type anything until I press the "on" button again (which will turn off the pc because the configuration for different on and off commands is buggy). I've wasted two weeks to get this setup barely working and even then it's not 100% reliable. It's driving me mad to the point where I almost broke the keyboard in half to be done with it.I'm giving it 2 stars because the actual hardware is great. But without the proper software it's really not worth it.
