Kingston Mobilelite G4 USB 3.0 Multi-Card Reader
Cons:USE port is pretty tight-fitting, tends to need a lot of force to unplug.
Pros:Very durable, can connect SD and microSD cards simultaenously Comment:
The actual USB plug is part of the entire metal body, not like most USB sticks that have a separate plastic surround housing. This means that if you hit on this thing it won't break, though the receptacle might! You can plug two SD cards at a time, a standard SD and microSD, and can use both of them when plugged in as well.My only gripe is that when you only use one card slot, the other is present as a "blank" drive. Not a negative functionally, but I'd prefer if there's no card it doesn't display it. My laptop's reader does not show up unless a card is inserted. If I had to improve it, I'd add the push-press feature like those found on tablets, laptops cameras and phones so that the cards are flush when fully inserted, and do not require preying them out which might scratch the cards or bring the reader out of its port.Overall very good design, especially at 13 bucks and acting as basically a dual-reader. |
I used the reader to transfer 12GB of GoPro videos and the metal enclosure got very hot to touch. It cooled quickly.
